Profile Commenting  via Rascii on 10/30/2013 | 31 votes
Should users be able to comment on each others' profiles, similar to commenting on a creatchi?

I think a PM sounds really.. Formal.
The ability to comment on each others' profiles could create some nice conversations and contacts between people, especially when you are a new member and people could give you tips or ask around. In that way new members will feel like belonging to the forum earlier.

Sorry love, I'm going to have to vote no on this one. I just don't see what it could offer that isn't already available.

I have a feeling it may be somewhat useful to some and completely useless to others/most. There's PM's but there's also the fact of, a lot of people would find it pretty much unused by them or people who could use it on the person's profile.

I don't think this would be a great feature, either. PMs seem to serve the same purpose as commenting on a profile would, aside from the publicity matter. I'm not sure what sorts of comments I would actually post on people's profiles... Spam could be a possibility like Laura said, but I also feel like we could be opening the door for more personal comments. I'm also not sure what sorts of discussions profile comments might open up. Speaking as a moderator, we already have a great deal of different ways to comment, all of which require a quick look through. Profile comments don't seem like they would add that much to the site.

As usual, just my thoughts! I'm sometimes out in left field with my thinking, so I'm curious to see what others have to say.

I don't think our current regulars would, but we'll get an influx of new ones when Creatures Online is released. I just think the potential would always be there; moreso on profiles where there isn't much to comment on, and people can already comment on bibbles and send private messages, so...

It would basically be the same as writing on someone's wall on Facebook I guess. You think people would spam each other, Laura?

I agree with Rat-tailed and KittyTikara; I'm not sure that commenting on profiles would be useful. I don't know what people would comment on really, other than to spam.

Creatchi comments makes sense, and is wonderful for rping. I don't think commenting on profiles really serves any purpose that, like Rat-tailed said, pms can't do better.

Hmm I'm unsure, I'd think people would be careful in what they say but like Rat-tailed says, if you want to compliment someone or something, you might as well message them.

No way. I've seen this implemented before and it's nothing short of embarrassing, and useless. If you have something to say to a person, message them. There's no reason to comment on their profile, really, unless the message directed to the person is somehow meant to be public.. which is odd in itself.
