Silent Crash to Desktop in DS

DS usually says why it's crashing, so I'm a bit stumped.

It has just been crashing to desktop, no warning, no error message.

It has happened in two worlds, but not immediately... usually into the second generation. If I load up my most recent save, I can guarantee that I've got about one minute left before the crash happens. Something, somewhere has set up a time-bomb and the game isn't telling me what.

I have various cobs and cos fixes, as well as C1toDS. Catalogue files are working fine. I'm not at any memory limits.

I've been around since, like, the dawn of time and worked through my normal diagnostics so this is really flummoxing me.

Any ideas? Any suggestions?

When you say you ran the usual diagnostics and all, I presume the obligatory autokill-off check didn't yield anything? Would be odd anyway, usually it prevents flat out crashes...

Do you have some kind of geat species installed perhaps? Those little buggers are, among other problems, notorious for crashing the game unannounced when you didn't prepare well.

Would it be too much to ask for a full list of what you have installed? Also, when the problem occurs in multiple worlds, what add-ons do they have in common? You might want to focus on those. Make a sacrificial world and slowly add the list of shared things until everything goes bang again. That oughta narrow it down.

Thanks for your response. Yeah, auto-kill yields the same result.

No geats, no shee, no Gaia, no Gaius. TWBs with C1toDS (including their extra cos file). A few extra breeds installed, but sprites and atts usually default to their nearest neighbour or a different age state for norns and if it's an object it would likely have thrown up an error on injection. Frimlin's words of Bibble's in place. Advanced Muco works fine.

I used a lot of the fixes from here: https://creatures.wiki/Creatures_3_%26_Docking_Station_Community_Recommended_Fixes_and_Addons#Installation_Issues, plus the autosaver and the garden box (although it also happens without that installed) and not much else. I sort of suspect one of the "fixes" is to blame but I installed them a load at a time so I don't know which and I feel like they would have been flagged up in a community guide.

The trouble is that it hasn't manifested until I've been playing for a little while, which makes me wonder if it's something triggering by the game moving into summer (aka 80 minutes in, I think)? Maybe some script is called only in summer and the game doesn't like it. Is there a way to change season by the CAOS console? It's crashing at 40 minutes in, which I think is two in-game days. Is there anything triggered on the third day of spring?

That's a guess, though.

I'm not sure if there is anything in the game that uses the time and the seasonal stuff, except maybe for the norn gender bias which the community promptly patched out.
Edit: As for changing it manually, this is all I could find.

Do you play at normal speed, or does it crash when you use the wolf control? You might've seen it among the other patches, but the wolf control can actually kill the game with division by 0 errors when it runs TOO fast.

Thank you, that's really helpful. I was actually trying to remember how to do that myself but my CAOS skillz have about fifteen years of dust on them and I wasn't any good at it anyway.

I replicated the world as best I could in terms of agents injected and moved the tick up to the crash-point and let it run and it hit the 41-minute mark with no problems, so the day/season idea was probably wrong.

Normal speed, and I'm using the bug fix that hopefully prevents it from Naturing Nurturing as her stuff seems to be really good quality. I'm not seeing a massive CPU or memory spike or sudden drop before the crash.

Annoyingly, because it's a silent crash it doesn't trigger the output log. An error message would be really useful!

Maybe be a faulty cob somewhere with a time-bomb effect... but which one and where?

Well, that is where the whole sacrificial world and trying out agents 1 by 1 idea would come into play. It's long and tedious, but may give some usable results.
Unfortunately I'm out of ideas that aren't a complete pain in the rear end, so.... I don't know.

Thanks for your help anyway.

It's so annoying that I hadn't installed any agents for about 30 minutes, meaning it was something running in the background waiting for *something* to change or overflow or something.

I still think that the day change might have been a cause, but I can't really prove it unless I can somehow get an error log, which I don't think I can.

My current world is scuppered, but it was only 40 minutes old... sigh.
