As a note, I'm planning on posting the first update in the Opinions Column once all the contestants have posted once (or at the end of the week, whichever comes first). After that, I could post anywhere from twice a week to multiple times in one day, depending on how active everyone is (for reasons that will become obvious when I get it up and running). Well, week one is almost finished. I just want to say that everyone is doing an amazing job on their journals -- I'm so impressed! And the opinion column has been fantastic, Grendel Man. Thank you all for your hard work.I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but the temperatures in the weather forecast were getting a little wacky (jumping up to 80 degrees fahrenheit -- definitely not appropriate for the arctic). I think this should be fixed now, though. The first two users will be removed from the island on Friday, January 4th, 2012 at 12:00pm EST (GMT -5). I will try to post each week, in this thread, the time that users will be removed each Friday, so people can plan their votes accordingly. I will be on Eastern Standard Time (GMT -5) next Friday (January 11th) as well, but then for the rest of the game I will be on Korean Standard Time (GMT +9). If anyone has any suggestions for contests, please post them in this thread or send me a private message. Thanks!Contest 1 will be unveiled on Monday. Good luck!  Week 1 Results Sam999 and ratkinzluver33 have been voted off the island. They are currently boarding the official Survivor: Arctic ship and will be returned to their homes shortly. Meanwhile, we had an excellent week of journal postings and events on the island, and Grendel Man did a great job of keeping us all up to date on the goings on of Survivor: Arctic.  Week 2 Results lisha777 and Hawk have been voted off the island. They are currently boarding the official Survivor: Arctic airplane and will be back to their hometowns shortly. Meanwhile, we had an interesting week of journal postings and events on the island, and Grendel Man kept us informed via the MIAB column (even though he was stuck in a cave for most of the week). However, the results of Contest #1 were quite disappointing. After being up for more than 24 hours, I was just too tired to dig out my scanner & get my half finished map into the computer in time for the contest. It will still make an appearance in the journal, but there will be in game reason for it's lateness when it is finally posted. I'm not making excuses, just explaining why my mine missed the deadline. I was just too tired to care, & I also was working on a special survivor related surprise as well. Hopefully it will be ready to post within the next day or two. |

The other contestants are free to interact with Mahk Mako should they happen to see him. He is a character in his own right, as the cave subplot showed. Though, I feel like I'm violating some sort of taboo by getting this involved.... And on a related note, I do have some sort of backstory for him planned, but I probably won't reveal it until the last week of Survivor. Thanks, that's one of the things that distracted me from map drawing. It locked my computer up for several hours while rendering it. I couldn't do anything else on my computer while the renders were running. |

Well, I can't speak for everyone else, but on my end, it's burn-out, pure and simple. I like Bearthing-the-norn's posts to be funny -- from a Creatures perspective -- and that takes a lot of brainpower than just having her running around going rah rah rah. Still have a lot of ideas, though. And I kind-of apologize to everyone for jacking the storyline and pretty much making Survivor, uh, something else. I simply wanted to entertain, tell a story, and do things somewhat differently. We can pretend it was all a dream when it's over, perhaps... Don't care; I'm a bear. |
