Interest check: New C1 base genome? | |

When I first started playing C1 something that really bugged me was how difficult it was to get my norns to eat and sleep. Jessica's updated food probably helped a little, but it still took about 5 minutes of spamming "push food" to get them to eat, and that's just ridiculous! And I know I'm not alone here, since in some of jessica's videos she struggles with getting sick norns to eat and not just look at the food. clearly there is some problem here... So that led me to make a genome for hatchery eggs that could live happier lives than the ones that shipped with the game.
Unfortunately I was set back because it turns out the GOG uninstaller can delete your entire creatures folder, but I have recreated it and I think it's far enough along that I should get some other people to test my changes. so without further ado I present you THE UNNAMED C1 GENOME THAT IS GENERALLY BETTER!
Here's the changes so far:
-All Life Kit breed genes have been added, which improves the hunger system, adds instincts that make better decisions, etc. And they can dance! you cant see it, but they can
-POSSIBLY improved Fight or Flight system?
-Red Happy Eater genes - these provide more reward from lowering drives, which should help them learn better
-Various small improvements suggested on genetics articles on Geatville and Discover Albia... the cough medicine actually stops coughing now
My test norns havent reached breeding age yet (they're only an hour and a half old), but so far they are FAR better at eating and seem to be better at sleeping! Now, I'm a more hands-off player compared to most people, it feels like, so I'm worried that these norns are perhaps TOO self-sustaining? Are the RHE genes too much? and do the ForF edits I made even work right? I want a second opinion! which is why I'm asking for testers
Do any of you that play C1 want to try out this genome and maybe suggest ways to make it better? |

What function does dancing serve if you can't see it? Is it a signal to other creatures? |

How have the fight or flight system been improved?

I messed with a c1 genome that could dance while also keeping all the gaits a good while back. I think sleepy walk and tired walk uses the exact same string of poses for the gait so I replaced one of those. If it's not that one, it's one of the gaits at least.
EDIT: SO I checked that genome, and I made special gait 7 dancing, while still keeping special gait 5 stagger. I might've used new pose numbers for this, and I'm not quite sure if I had to replace certain things, but I do know I copied the dance poses from the dances in the breeds that have them.
You know...wait...nevermind... wait...no...umm...maybe later... |

I like how msot of these posts are about the dancing LOL. I'll do what Verm suggested
@Emma - I made a receptor that produces turnase and changed the approach stimulus to produce collapsase instead - that was inspired by a post on Creatures Great and Small, which is where I got the Life Kit gene info from. and I cant stress enough it is UNTESTED |

I would be absolutely DELIGHTED to test these. And might I ask that you consider submitting them for the festival?

IMPORTANT UPDATE: THEY CAN NOW DANCE (or at least do some kind of jig)Actually I have no idea. Idk what the dancing looks like
@Layla - Ooh good thinking! I would like to get them into a tested state beforehand though, LOL. Right now these guys talk about being angry a lot so I don't think my edits particularly worked
You want me to just slap a dropbox link here or what? |

Dropbox would work fine! Or Google Drive. You might want to PM it to people individually, even if it is just in a testing phase, to keep the mystery.

I've had a base C1 breed genome under wraps since July 2019, with the most substantial advances taking place in January 2020 and July 2020. It is currently in a releasable state.
They sleep better, have Wounded ported over, new instincts, age and injury death and an attempt to bring the C2 Nova-Subterra brain architecture over to C1 with about half-success due to differences in genetic limitations across games. I had some clever workarounds, but they inevitably didn't work - pretty much everything about it besides Search and Subattention seems to work properly.
I named them the Midgard Norns. From extensive testing I've noticed they act roughly on the level of C2 norns, including with proper instincts for fruit, which helps them significantly in third-party worlds which have those cobs, such as Darwinia and Arborium. Same for Root, which is in Terra Nornia.
I was going to keep it completely under wraps until the CCSF before I saw this thread. I also have an experimental COB for replacing the sleeping script with something that I deemed better back in 2019, but I found that the Midgards slept well enough without it. |

Woah! well ours can coexist, I guess. mine don't have the extreme changes that yours do |

I'd love to see some norns with these changes and the eggmine changes added - it was always fun for me to try to crossbreed some traits into my norns.

There are other norn breeds you can explore for good ideas such as Survivor, Dalai Lama, Choice, Conservative etc.
I go into them in some detail on my website which is basically a museum of all things C1
http://geatville.uk/
I for one would be very interested for another norn breed for C1.
Maybe consider making it a multi-species genome? |
