Looking for information, creating rooms | |

Hi I'm hoping somebody can point me in the right direction.
I'm looking for plugins files for the gimp to edit the .c16 and .blk.
I'm also stuck on the signpost for the room the only tutorial I found leads to a dead link same for doors and lifts.
So far Ive managed to get something into game it didn't work right but its a start lol, the room was not synced to the background image.
I'm not that great at scripting so would appreciate any help at all, I've been following a few tutorials online but so far not managed to get much in game if somebody could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. |

Glad you found us, and I'm happy you're interested in making your own environment for your creatures!
The GIMP Plugin which allowed people to edit C16s and BLKs in GIMP directly hasn't been updated since 2008, and that version has been lost. Edos (part of Jagent) can import several types of image files to become C16s and BLKs and can export from those files too. Edos also supports PNG transparency.
You might like to check out Favourite Places in Docking Station and the simple door script and Using the Map Editor Part 2.

Thank you :-). I've done a map background based on an existing game room currently fighting with the editor to try and get it into game.
The Edos link was particular helpful thank you much easier than finding an old version of gimp :-).
Im actually interested in adding a series of rooms I have very fond memories of the game returning to it after a while has made me want to mod for it, no poly count restrictions is a good thing lol.
Is there a best practice for room size within the editor apart from boundary collisions with the creature sprites?

Try to keep them fairly even to help "smell" transfer, keep in mind c3 grendels are very big, be careful about slopes that might be impassable or get norns stuck (check the Capillata communications room, they preferred losing a bit of room to the sides, rather than creating super steep slopes). Check out room types if you want plants to be able to grow.
Edit: oh, and there used to be a big map of room boundaries, so people wouldn't create metarooms that overlap in the ingame map, no idea how that's dealt with these days. |

Thank you Ive redone the mapping taking into account the slope issue. Im not that good with scripting not had any chance to practice with anything for a looong time apart from shader changes for some mods for a city builder I made stuff for.
Creatures has grabbed my attention again though so I guess my other mods are on hold for a while lol change is good.

Sorry to be a pest need a bit of help didnt want to clutter the forum with a noob question.
I've managed to get some artwork in game, but the internal rooms shift on import is this a bug or am i doing something wrong?
I;m getting a little frustrated as Id got things looking the way I want in the map editor a few times but on import it squishes in on the right every time. Any help would be appreciated. Hopefully screenshots will work lol dont share much.

Resizing the background works around the issue. Interested to know if I've done something wrong though :-) if anyone has an idea of where I may of messed up. Resizing isnt a huge issue just feels like Im missing something.

Just wanted to say thanks for the pointers on where to look for information, Im getting somewhere now so I thought Id share a couple of test run shots on the first room :-). Still got a fair bit to do But at least its workin :-). Again thanks for the help :-).

Im intending 2 or 3 rooms but Im still trying to get my head around CAOS I havnt scripted anything in a long time so struggling a bit lol the rooms in a kinda working state but has no agents as of yet Im still making the plant life images :-). The backgrounds for 2 rooms are done Ill share more when I have it more usable :-). |
