Basic DS grendel-an idea 1 | 2 | |

Actually, it would be interesting to have a slightly shorter tail than other breeds, which AFAIK are all pretty much the same length.
I think they could still pass as a decent PMG. They aren't that outlandish looking, not compared to the staple C3 Grendel. Unless you mean a plain, plain Grendel, but the C2 Bulbous converts already work pretty well for that.

If the only extent of behavioric change would be to make them more lizardlike in normal conditions, but in social stance towards other species and boredom handling just like grendels, it would make a great PMG.
I don't think the tail matters that much. Short and thick would look better, but a little longer than your average grendel's tail would give them something special as well.
I wouldn't do a normal longer tail, though. An upwards curl like a mustach or a smile would look much better. |

....Unless you mean a plain, plain Grendel....
Sorry, but that was more-or-less my idea.
....C2 Bulbous converts....
For some reason I can never get them to work. They end up with norn legs.
This is more what I meant when I posted the topic. Sorry. I should have waited until I finished photo-shopping it, and added the picture in the first post to give everyone a good idea of what I meant.
But your grendel is great too. I'd love it ingame. |

Here's an idea of what the Dustdevil Grendels could look like.
See it here.
I swapped out the spikes for a sort of "messy mohawk" just because I was curious to see what it would look like.
The ears were a part of the original "template" model which I simply never deleted--I could do so, but with such unusual eyes, having no ears could make their expressions a lot harder to read.
Then again, it might not.
I've decided I like both designs, so let me know what you guys think looks better.

I think sam's atempt was a interessting one (the HeorotGrendel one)
(I know it seem to be made by several sprites, but using it as a guideline/ref and *maybe build a model?* after it + make a few changes and add some things,
it could probably look even better,im sure)
as for the other example,
it's not bad either-the colors are just plain sweet and the head is cute!
But the eyes pupils, are they meant to be like that?
remind me a bit of frog-ish,or perhaps leaning more goat-ish.
Not that its wrong or anything..
(nevermind - saw why the eyes are so)
For me - I would vote with the ears - it look much better
(boney grendels are the only one I could understand why they don't have ears - boney afterall)
I wish you the best of luck if your'e going to make it. |

Yes, I'd like to at some point. Can't say when I'll have the time to sit down and really crank the sprites out, but at some point...

Wow, I'm really digging it so far! I think the purple mohawk is a good idea, it ties in with the ChiChi's crazy color scheme, though the grendels are a lot more muted. (Which is a good thing!) |

Thanks for the PM, Ghosthande. I haven't watched this thread for a while.
Is it possible to show the spike hair with ears?
I think the spikes would look really good if it would be a bit bigger in width and length, and to be styled to look like hair. |

Hmm, good idea.
Here he is with those ears and a bit of hairgel this time, since 'styled to look like hair' can be taken in multiple ways I thought I'd go with all of them.

Yeah, that does look better than the mohawk.
Now what about the female? Would she have the typical curly hair most female Norns and Grendels have, or break from tradition and go with something else? (I'd kind of like to see an earring in there somewhere.)

purple/blue bobcut would be something I'd go for. Maybe more sexual dimorphism like a darker texture or replacing the yellow in the tex with red?
I only situation in which I could agree with the earring is if it would be an injectible addon, a combination of the clothing agent and the swimming agent. |

Okay, no earring, then.
I agree on a color change, but green and red seems too Christmassy. Just softening the colors might work for making them look more feminine. I like the idea of making the hair blue though. Maybe something like this?

I like the idea that they should have no ears, because that makes them more lizardy, but I also like the idea of them having an earring.... XP
Or, she could go the PMN lippie and false eyelashes.

(I don't mean to be rude and just butt in but I would like express my opion)
The Different hair styles and coulor definetly show the breeds diversity. It looks like a good Idea. Also, I think maybe a earing would be a nice Idea. Maybe It would not have it when it is born but get it when it grows up? But If we want to include everyones opinon we should make a "peircing" agent that when injected it makes targ Grendle get a earing. I dont know whether its posible to recoginse the breed and only give it to the grendle breed but it would be complicated for interspecies breeding.

Eww, Grendel lipstick! XP
It is possible to make an agent that only clothes a Creature based on which breed slot its head belongs to (which wouldn't help much for say, a pair of pants, but would be really convenient for earrings).

Google taught me that her name is "Greta". o_O
I've got to wonder if going for a "blue rinse" and curls might be interesting for the female... like this, or Dame Edna. Curls for the girls, indeed. Another hairstyle might be dreadlocks or the dreaded pob?

That's disturbing, Malkin. XP
I'm happy to avoid curly hairstyles for my Creatures whenever possible. They're a bit more complex to model than I like. Or you could just say, I'm too lazy. But I like the bobcut idea. It kind of harkens back to the Bulbous Grendel's 50's hairstyle.

I don't mind the straight hair for the female, as long as the hair on the sides hangs down more and less forward, but dreads would be cool too!
Earrings on creatures have always bothered me, however if there was only one and it was much more tribal looking (bones and stuff) it wouldn't be so bad.
But this is all just my opinion. It looks great so far and I can't wait to get them in game!!

Dreadlocks are a neat idea. I think I'll stick with what I have, unless Gobbo objects, but I might have to keep that in mind in the future.

@ silvak: Yeah, If the grendles have tribal earings for like their religion or whatever it would be really cool!
"however if there was only one and it was much more tribal looking (bones and stuff) it wouldn't be so bad."
That would make them look really cool. I just would object if they look like this! It Still has bones in it!

what is it I hear about PMN false eyelashes >_>?
All C1 norns had eyelashes O.o'
Oh lol I allways think of the "¨PMN lipstick lips" to be just red marks ^^'
I guess lips on grendels would be a new thing, but it probably won't fit this grendel lady XD
I see Greta gremlin makes a return here, she allways been one of my fav (being the only female gremlin there is,ignore being genetical changed by a drink)
I allways think of gremlin sorta equals grendels, and theyre mogwai form equal the norns -
thats actuly one of the things dragin me into creatures afterall X3
(and the bad excuse for making the gremlin breed cough cough)
*cpugh cough back on topic*
I really think the spikey hairdo thingy on the male here looks great,
the old good grendel mohawk looked nice, but I do think this change fits better.
I think that current fem haircut look typical grendel haircut O.o
(not counting c1's fems with piggytails) both C2 and C3 grendels (banshee included) have somewhat of that hairstyle.
I never recall grendels have curls >_> '

I really think curl dosn't fit.To be honest ,Im not much for curl at all,and on grendels it would look just plain silly.
I myself got annoyed about the curl fems of the buyable clabs breeds, such as treehugger, siamese and zebra..
I know there several other neat hairstyles that could fit the fem..
The list can go on and on,
but one that came to mind - perhaps something similar to the male - with mohawk like spikes that is a bit wavey..or
how to say (just made a quick and silly looking doodle :
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h78/Getchuz/Fem_spi.png
(also made a slight lighter purple color - just comparing Ghosthande's head model of the female color seem to be lighter in skin of the male..so thats why I also changed the hue on hair)
Just my openion, nothing to be taken seriously.
Im looking forward to how you guys make her look in the end result,
I bet this grendel will be a neat breed idea as it progress (idea wise for now,I guess? )
Wish best of good luck!

Yeah, female Banshee Grendels have curly "spaghetti hair", which is what I was thinking of. I forgot Jungle Grendels were any different.
I like your drawing. It looks kind of undersea-ish.

I like this idea a lot. I'd suggest giving them catlike eyes.
