I've found my old school-art-class book with a few nice tree drawings. I'll try uploading them later.

I just grabbed a handful of paper, some crayons, and colored pencils! Background scenery, here I come! I think my finished results will fit the scribble theme quite nicely... I remember failing a few art projects because the teacher thought I didn't put any effort in. How does one fail at art, though, since it's very subjective? A line could be considered art! Ha ha!

Anyways, good luck to everyone, and I'll hopefully have something to send in the next day or so!

Yay - finaly is on my second doodle - is allready doing some few doodlings now..

(hoping razgriz, spykkie and aru will join in this too,
as I allready showed my sis about this *_* )

Oh,I just wondered -

lifts and it's liftbutton and/or teleporters or any kind of mover things - such as boats etc
this belong to the object area, huh?

as well wondered, patch of water,is that allowed?
didn't see water listed there,so here I am asking ^^'
*dunno if patch of water is correct way to say it,but meh ^^' *

There won't be any lifts or elevators, but there will be water. I want the room to be large enough to fit in lots of things, but also have a layout that is very easy for norns to get around in.

Do you want every object to be separated into unique image files? I scribbled a lot of things on a single sheet of paper, and am wondering if you would prefer the whole thing, or separated elements.

I have quite a few scribbles to send in! I'm proud of most of them, but let's just say that a couple went off the deep end during the creative process. Ha ha! Hopefully I'll have these sent to you tomorrow... And hopefully there's at least one useful scribble in there!

(I also posted about the Community Scribble on Discover Albia! I'm pretty sure that everyone already knows about it, but hopefully the post will raise a little more awareness and interest!)

...

This is the best idea ever.

ETA: Hey, is there a light source to keep in mind? I'm wondering how I should shade anything I draw.

You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. If that leads to somewhere unexpected then perhaps you really needed to go there.

Couldn't we directly PM the pictures? It would be helpful.

@Jessica: You can keep them on one giant sheet, that makes it a bit easier to download and save them for me.

@Officer-1BDI: Light in creatures usually croms from above and to the side, but since most objects get mirrored, which side hardly matters. Don't shade too heavily though. Think of the light as very diffuse, so only soft shadows. Or just colour it nicely and don't shade at alll. ;)

Harlequinade: I don't know how you'd directly PM the pictures, because you'd need to get them onto your computer first. If you have a digital camera that would work too. Take a photo of your doodles, transfer them onto your computer and upload them to somewhere like ImageShack. :)

I have a fancy Paint program on my computer that can imitate pencils and crayons, would that do?

AquaShee

AquaShee

  12/28/2010

It really should be handdrawn to fit in with the rest of the room. Digital art usually takes a lot of skill to fool anyone with, so regular doodles probably won't look 'real' when drawn with the computer.

Trust me, calling what I am drawing with this program digital art gives a very wrong impression. It's nothing fancy, just a very simple brush that looks just like a crayon. Personally, I would not be able to tell it was made on a computer. The only problem is it can be tricky drawing small things, like snowflakes.

  12/28/2010

Well, you kinda ruined your chances by telling me you're going to use a paint program now, didn't you? :P Now I'll know what to look for.
Just pretend your scanner is fixed and send in your doodles, but I'll know.

I was acting under the assumption that a program that looked just like an actual doodle would be permitted. Seeing as I was wrong, I won't send it in. I don't want any bad karma.

AquaShee

  12/28/2010

Being passive-agressive like that won't score you any good karma points either. :/
I'll update the original post to make things more clear, though the use of pencils and paper have been explicitly stated in a context that implies real-world use.

Ok, I did not mean to sound passive-aggressive. It must have been the "acting under the assumption" bit. Saying that never bodes well, for some reason.

... On a brighter note (let's not bring the topic down)! I plan to doodle some patches of sand and earth later, if you need any of those things, AquaShee. :)

AquaShee

  12/28/2010

Ooh, yes please! Finally some sand and earth to work with. ;) Though I'll need some from other people too. I love mixing and matching all the styles.

Come on people, I only need a few more trees and patches of dirt before I can update the required doodles part to toys and fruits. :D

I want as much names as possible attached to the room, it should be a real community project. So far I'm really happy with all the submissions I've gotten, but I know there's a lot more of you out there who can help. ;)

Am I allowed to draw a statue? Maybe one with a banner? How about wall and ceiling decorations like stalactites and cavewalls?

Also, I don't really have any crayons or usable coloring pencils. May I use some coloring markers? I'm still learning how to use them, so there shouldn't be a problem with them looking too good. :D

AquaShee

AquaShee

  12/28/2010

I guess a statue wouldn't hurt, but we can't have too many statues. ;) But if you send it in I'll consider it. ;)
Cavewalls and stalactites are welcome, but the room won't have a cave so I might be using them for other purposes. ;)

Colouring markers would look very different from the crayon and pencils, sadly. I didn't expect so many people to not have pencils. Kids these days and their fancy-prancy markers. ;)
Try and acquire some pencils, but if that's really not possible just send in your doodles. If it still fits I'll fit it in, if it doesn't then you've tried and that's what matters. :)

I'm thinking of making a gallery of all submissions whether they got in or not.

I just sent you my scribbles, AquaShee! My scanner is pure evil, and that's all I have to say about that. Ha ha!

I think a gallery of all submissions would be a great idea! It's always nice to see what everyone can create. I'm usually in awe, even if it's a simple rock!

Good luck to everyone else who is coloring, drawing, and scribbling for the greater good!

I love the idea of the achievements! And with them being unknown, it's also a nice way to get everyone to get involved in any way... You never know if you'll uncover an achievement!

I hope the project is coming along very well! I had a blast scribbling yesterday, and look forward to submitting some more of my "art" soon. Ha ha! I hope others are working on their own doodles and scribbles!

Are there any other ways that people can participate now, AquaShee? I know some members are limited by their access to a scanner, but still want to take part.

lol ditto that - when Aquashee goes like that it makes me think the typical xbox306 achievments XD

I have been doodling a lot on my next paper, this time with weather stuff and actuly tried on some patches of sand and grass..and some other stuff..
Gotta color it soon as I finished it yesterday but couldn't go on anymore - was too tired X_X

I wonder if it will be a doodle number 3 page..cos of the trees..
as I only have 2 trees so far O.o

It sounds like a really cool project! Many people don't know how to make something in CAOS, making them a misfit. This changes the way how people contribute in the CC. :)

I'm going to draw some background items with my little brother and his friend, they seem to find it fun to do.

Good luck Aquashee and others! :D

Awesome, Lembamjunior!
If we keep it up we'll have all we need for the metaroom background in little more than half a week, that's amazing!

Stuff that's still needed right now is mainly trees, and maybe some bushes and a fallen log or something. And more sand, dirst and grass patches.

Once we got all that set up, I'll release a basic image of the metaroom so you guys can see what it looks like, and we can fill in the remaining blanks and get to work on plants, fruits and the like.

Awesome! With Norngirl and Emzie's doodles I now have enough material to work on the first metaroom draft.
I'll start putting it all together properly this evening.

There is still one element missing though: Water! But I specifically left that out so I can make a preview of the room so everyone can see where the water has to go and what it should look like.

If you still have doodles to send in, don't worry! I can _always_ use more trees, rocks and more to spice up the background.
