How do you edit a catalogue file? I want to add more names to the names.cat file but I guess notepad was the wrong program to use..
EDIT: Bleh, I guess it was for that and I missed a bracket, anyways "Catalogue Error: CLE0019: Two tags with the same name "Creature Actions" but different contents at item 0" is the error I'm getting, I did edit the brain files aswell, however I don't really know what's this "item 0" it's talking about. |

Notepad is fine, that's actually what I use. It's giving you an error because, apparently, you duplicated a tag/file name (perhaps by copying a tag or file and not renaming it), so now there are two tags with the same name but different contents.
The game doesn't know how to handle duplicates in the catalogue files. Depending on what you're trying to do, I think you're going to need to either rename your duplicate to something else, or (if this is something the game is supposed to call on) move the original file someplace else so that your version is the only one the game will find.
If you're running Vista, there's a chance that Vista itself created a duplicate inside the AppData/Local/VirtualStore directory. It does take offense when you try to edit files in the Program Files directory and will do things like that to try to "protect" the original files. If that's the case, check in that directory (it's located under Users/whatever your account is named). The VirtualStore directory has a sort of copy of the Program Files directory, so you can just find the Docking Station section, grab your file, and copy or drag it to the real game folder.

Ghosthande is right, you should be careful with the tags. The game reacts very sensitive on new/missing ones.
Simply making more lines in an existing tag is much more safe.

I took a look at the official translated ones, which I know they had to change the parts I was wanting to change, and saw they where using some kind of override tag, I stuck them all in the same places and it seems to work fine in game.
Figured as such cause I never messed with the tags, it just dosen't like you changing any of the lines within a tag's category.
Even changing 1 line like "Look" or "Push" made it give the error.
I haven't seen any of my added names yet, but the norn vocab looks 10 times more natural now, I still haven't come up with more natural looking versions of "rest", "left or "right" (Which look pretty awkward, "rest food" for example) |
