The only reason i don't like 3rd party breeds is that some norns just look like a copy but in a different shade. I don't really like draconian norns because it looks like somebody drew them. They are more of a lizard/dragon than anything else. Most of the breeds don't even have a promo image. If they do all it is a copy of an original one. Most 3rd party breeds don't even have there own story.
Edit: I hope creatures loci has harlequin norns.
Please don't double post, you know where the edit button is by now.

That would be because making a breed is complicated and not easy.
Now, if you would like to learn 3D and build your own norn models to turn into breeds by taking hundreds of pictures and then editing them so that you have norns that don't look "cheap", that's up to you.
As for the rest of us that actually do work on making breeds, most of us don't have the time to do that. |

I just draw my balrog sprites straight over the top of C2 norns.
And I think they look OK. That 3D Balrog I did in the wallpaper section is done over the top of the female hardman wallpaper. |

Heh heh. I think that 3rd party breeds are cool, but not professional enough (this excludes belrog norns, of course ) Some of them were created quickly and without hardly a glance.

Eh, rendering every single sprite & preparing it for the game is a VERY time consuming process. 196 or so images (think that's the number - I'll check when I get home) for just heads - per age and per gender. So, 196 x 2(gender) x 5 (ages) and you have a LOT of heads to render. The rest of the body isn't quite so bad but still lots

Some norns that are definately made without much thought: Sunny norns
They're in the same slot as the balrogs, with good reason. |

A rough head for a breed to prove norn breeds dont have to be based on the "normal" sprites

That was the whole idea - to show it doesn't have to be cute & cuddly and can show moods without a highly mobile face

If/When we do get a new Creatures game we'll have to start working on '3D' third-party breeds, and that could be even more a challenge than we have at the moment!

I'm actually think of making my own Creatures game.
I just need to post about it and get a team together over at Gameware, as soon as I remeber my password |

According to the forums, there are a few teams looking for members to help make 2D and 3D Creatures-type games.

It's an adventure game, like the old 2d megaman ones. As well as a normal Creatures game, of course. |

For those who don't check the Gameware forums, it looks like Lisa might be posting a short update to the Studio Diary sometime this week (have at look at her post here).
Plus, it also seems that Gameware are still on the look out for a small publisher to take a chance on Creatures (but no luck just yet).

You know what they need to do?
Fix Eydnn!
All sorts of missing files and the like. They (the makers of Eydnn) need to fix it.

Edynn seems to have paused development for the moment so in terms of new games I think Openc2e+Lifandi would probably be the better bet, especially at the speed it is progressing.
Although there are also several other active Creatures projects/games on the go at the moment to choose from.
Take your pick

Openc2e just seems to be to much of a hassle to get working.

There was a Windows installer at the website previously but it looks like its offline atm.
Some many community projects seem to end suddenly though so I'm waiting for (/ saving my energy for) the next Creatures 4 or Creatures 5.

One of the problems community projects face is that members get hit with real life commitments But that doesn't mean they've quit, just a delay.

The majority of projects that get shelved never seem to recover, as they usually involve a group of people who each tend to drift away at different points.
Community games are susceptible to a lack of focus or steady development, but at least Openc2e has been ongoing.
We know that Gameware want to develop Creatures 3D themselves, so that may be a way off yet (due to the lack of a publisher), but we don't know whats going to happen with the 2D games. In fact all the Creatures remastered games are now being sold together as "Creatures Triple Pack", so it looks like that might keep going for a while.

I don't know, it's been seven or eight years scince Creatures 3 was relseased, and not a creatures-related word from Gameware. A part of me fears that they may drop a Creatures 4 completely, and the other part says to be patient. Seven years, though.
I'm not sure what to think anymore.

I think they will make another game as they always sounds very keen on the idea of 3D Creatures, and hopefully it would be this decade.
