I am a returning player, I used to play creatures 3/DS back in 2006-2007 and my favorite part by far was gengineering! I missed it so much I came back to start over again. I have been working on a breed I like to call Marinorns over the past few days, they are social, predatory and exclusively aquatic. I found CC again since I was reminded of the game and ended up googling my old handle out of curiosity. Found out some of my old art was hosted on here! That was really neat. And kind of embarrassing, since I've gotten a lot better now I'm happy to have found the game again, because once again I come to it with a greater understanding of... well, things in general. I started out with Creatures Village when I was a kid, then on to 2 and 3. I was pretty confused with 2 and 3, as I was pretty young at the time, lol. Now, I'm returning to the Creatures community armed with knowledge on how to raise and breed Norns. I look forward to having a good time on this site and in the game! I bought c2 from a goodwill and, after many hours of trying to get it to work... well, it sucked me in pretty quickly once I got it to start ... A bit strange for me, being such a new player to a game that seems to be a part of most fans' childhoods. Herb   Carminechimera   10/31/2015  1 Right then! Returning player here- please call me Steve. I believe I registered here several years ago, but I can't be certain. I've been in and out of the Creatures community for years. I'm pretty excited to get back involved, even if it's still very tiny. Back when I played regularly, I was very active on DS with many players- so someone may recognize me here. I believe I was still Carminechimera (at least on GW's website) back then... it's foggy. I was rather heartbroken to find that Gameware had been closed and the community had more or less disappeared into the crevasses of the internet, but it seems that there are still small communities like Creatures Caves that are alive and well, even after so many years. I'm an experienced Creatures player, having played the series since it's debut back in the 90's, but the explosion that is the modding community is still a pool that I have only just begun to dip my toes in. I was absolutely blown away by the efforts in C12DS, let me tell you. I have no idea that such a thing had been made since I last played. Anyway- I'm rambling. I'm excited to just speak to Creatures players again, really. Having reset all of my work since DS's servers went down, my Norns are no where near as advanced as they used to be and I'm eager to try new methods to mutate their genes again and experiment with new Cobs/Agents. I hope to have a good time in this forum! I've been lurking the caves for a few months now, and I felt that perhaps now was the time to try for a proper Introduction I'm Moon, which is a direct translation of my actual last name in Dutch. I played c2, c3 and ds a lot when I was younger, and rediscovered the games over the past summer holidays; and now, I use taking care of norns as a welcome distraction from thesis-writing. I'm not a very active user, and will only post when I have a question I can't work out on my own or news that I feel you'd really want to hear about (such as Creatures Online being put on hold), but I would like to take this opportunity to thank all you wonderful people for all the great cobs, breeds and metarooms out there -- they really do make Creatures games even cooler than they already were! Lunchtime doubly so.   atimelybird   11/8/2015 Hi folks, I've been lurking since I started playing C1 and C3 again several months ago thanks to the heroes over at GOG.com. Like Moon above, I use Creatures as a distraction, but I finished my thesis a long time ago. Instead, as a person who has trouble leaving "work mode" after I get home, it helps to have a little Creatures world to "work" on. I had C1 and C2 as a kid and it annoyed the b'jesus out of my parents. My dad bought me my first ever pair of headphones because everyone in the house was sick and tired of the chorus of norns babbling. These days, my hobby annoys the b'jesus out of my husband and frightens my dog. Even though I had briefly tried C3 ages ago, I fit more into the new player category because of not delving into the depths of the game back then. There is definitely a lot of nostalgia anyway, I just love the soft ambient music present in the norn-terrarium. My bf recently gifted me the game and now I am excited to explore. So I am currently just trying to figure out and apply all the needed fixes. I am so amazed at the wealth of custom content. So far I gathered I need DS-offline-option and the Remastered-patch. If anyone of the expert here would like to advise me on any other highly recommended fixes or patches for C3/DS, then I would be eternally grateful. Thank you so much in advance.   Wrong Banshee Dragoler     11/20/2015  1 Greetings, I will try and list some fixes I recommend for you: - New Toy Smell, helps creatures to better navigate to toys. - Brainfarter, to help deal with EE (eat elevator) syndrome, it isn't a be all end all "fix" but it's better than letting them zone out and starve! - All the fixes from Here. - Desert fixes - A small fix for grazer sounds, not major but good to have. For genomes you will want AT LEAST CFE norns, if not CFF (they still have some issues that are being addressed.) Default genomes are full of bugs. I downloaded them from amazon. C2 doesn't work because I don't have a 16 bit or something like that. So far I love c1 and exodus. I am still a little confused on exodus and if it has a docking statioj. Can't register online.   Wrong Banshee Dragoler     12/14/2015 Welcome to the caves LuckLadybug. Exodus does come with Docking Station but you will need an add-on to run it offline as the servers are now down. Personaly I use C12DS but there is also the DS login disabler which does the same thing without the added metaroom. As for C2 not working, if you are on windows 7 you could try this (I don't know the instructions for windows 10, sorry). Hope that helps!
