How do diseases and bacteria work?

I have a question about the nature of diseases in Creatures 3/Docking station.
Since I made my first metaroom I asked myself where diseases do come from.
Are they a kind of spawning agent? How they got transmitted and can I set places in a metaroom to let diseases spread there?
I remember there was once a list of possible diseases on a Creatures site somewhere.

The question is interesting, because it is a kind of challenge for a wolfling run and I really would like to make a disease patch or something like this one day so that creatures can get infected.

There are those macro bacteria, but they are not the same as the usual diseases that can spread around the C3 ship.

The Macrobacteria are actually relatively similar as to how regular bacteria function.
Normal bacteria in the game are indeed invisible agents that spawn in certain spots and then just float about. When they run into a creature, they attach to them, similar to the hoverdoc. However, instead of diagnosing the creature, they inject them with diagnosable poisons. I believe that's also the bacteria count that the doc gives you. "3 bacteria found" literally means 3 of those agents clinging to this particular creature.

There was some command to make them visible, so you can see them as yellow floating dots, but I have to admit that it's been a hot minute, so I forgot how to do that exactly.

If you are curious, there is always the bacteria.cos (or DS bacteria.cos? Again, it's been a while...)

When bacteria first spawn in, they'll only do it in the base rooms(mostly jungle if docked, mostly workshop if not).

Bacteria will start with 1 of the 8 antigens(0-7), and 1 toxin (70-81), though through mutations, can have a 2nd toxin they emit(also 70-81).

Like Papriko said, they attach to creatures, and also agents. When on creatures or if they're lucky(and by lucky, I mean being in certain rooms like the jungle that increase the chances), bacteria will eventually copy themself if the max bacteria limit hasn't been reached. Bacteria will also copy without caring about the conditions above if they're under the minimum.

Bacteria also have like a lifespan, their infect and uninfect percent(for antibodies I think), and reproductive age(a percent of their total lifespan).

You know...wait...nevermind... wait...no...umm...maybe later...

I'd recommend reading the wiki https://creatures.wiki/Bacteria
I'd also recommend the bacteria button https://creaturescaves.com/downloads.php?section=COBs&view=100

Thank you as well. I was also wondering about the bacteria and the way they work and thankfully didn't have to look far. Perhaps you could make this thread a sticky? Or maybe you have a database or a base of knowledge that I missed and this information can be found there? There are many players like me who just look for some answers and clarification and browsing your forum is a godsend. Thank you!
