TL;DR: I want to replace my Banana Norn sprite set. Any advice on how to do that?
My C2 Banana Norn sprites are "soft" as if they're being auto-scaled from lesser resolution images. They also exhibit ugly animation artefacts when remapping a body part in response to a pose change. The most unsatisfying of these is a black square that halos the head whenever it turns to/from facing the camera.
I assume this is true of every C2 installation--or at least those with whichever 'kit' introduced the sprites--but have only ever seen my own installations. In case it matters, I run the GOG Albian Years release of C2. My Gen 1 Norns have Akamai Canny genomes.
I ran a world recently where a mutation caused the Banana sprites to surface in Gen 5 or thereabouts (I don't keep meticulous records). I was fascinated by the spread of the Banana appearance through the population so I'd prefer not to snuff out that effect by overwriting the sprites with those of another stock breed/type.
Perhaps you've done something like this and would be willing to share your approach and subsequent experience.

I've found SpriteBuilder is great for replacing sprites. I can't remember what the naming format is for norn breeds, though.
Neither look forward where there is doubt nor backward where there is regret. Look inward and ask not if there is anything outside you want, but whether there is anything inside that you have not yet unpacked. |
