Creatures Caves

Would anyone be interested in something like this? It'd be similar to Creatchis in some ways, but it would be its own full-blown game with its own website and its own mechanics. But the fundamentals of gameplay would be pretty similar. You'd collect Creatures - Norns, Grendels, and Ettins at first, with Geats later perhaps - starting as eggs, which would then hatch into babies. They would grow to adulthood and breed, thus starting the cycle over again.

Like Creatchis, we'd have the three base Creature species, a number of different base colors to breed for, and markings. However, there would also be a more complex genetic system allowing for things like eye, hair, belly/underside, and other "secondary" colors to be bred for separate from base color. The creatures would be able to have more markings than stripes, and more than one marking at a time.

Breeds of creatures would exist. I'm not sure if I could make crossbreeding create mixed looks, but we could at least have a number of breeds for each species, and I definitely could design it so that if you breed, say, Ettin Breed A with Ettin Breed B, you get a hybrid Ettin breed that can only be acquired by breeding A and B, or breeding the hybrids to their parent species or each other.

The graphics would be larger and in a more detailed style than the Tamagotchi-inspired art of Creatchis. (This is not meant to imply that the Creatchis art is "bad" by any means! Just that the art in this game would be significantly different.)

There will be things you can do to care for your creatures, but they won't be able to die from neglect, and may not die at all depending on how the community feels about the balance between wanting to nurture/care for their Creatures and not wanting to have to worry about that issue. In any event, you will be able to own more than one at a time. There will be limits on breeding, naturally, but it will be possible to breed your own Creatures as well as breed to others'.

Initially, of course, breeds will be based on official ones, then any well-known/popular fan-created breeds for whom permission can be obtained. Then we can start inventing new breeds!

So is this something people would find fun/interesting? I'm feeling like doing a project like this and I thought it might be fun. I can definitely create the game mechanics and art assets needed. Getting the website coded and all that will be a bit more challenging, but I'm willing to put in the time to figure out how to get it done. Or even hire someone to do it if I can afford it. I've played a number of website-based pet/breeding games, and I think a Creatures-based one would be super fun.

It would, of course, be absolutely free to play with no paid components whatsoever except MAYBE (and I emphasize maybe) a button to donate toward paying server costs and any programmer's fees I may end up incurring for the game.
