Bacteria nerf patch C3DS Arnout | 8/7/2017 | 4 |
type | Misc | author | Arnout | updated | 8/26/2017 | version | 1.2 | Under the right circumstances, bacteria in Creatures 3 and Docking Station can do ridiculous things to Creature populations. This updated script file of the Creatures 3 and Docking Station bacteria helps your populations fend off bacteria by the following principles:
- The amount of bacteria in Creatures 3 is reduced by roughly 20%.
- However, bacteria in Creatures 3 are also spread somewhat more evenly across the ship. (50% of all bacteria will spawn in the Grendel Jungle instead of 65%.)
- Creatures become up to 20% more resistant to bacterial diseases as they age, though elderly Creatures become somewhat more vulnerable to them. Exact percentages compared to the original are below:
Baby: 100% (equal to the original)
Child: 95%
Adolescent: 90%
Youth: 85%
Adult: 80%
Old: 105%
Senile: 110%
- I didn't want to go any further than 20% (for adults) as there are also Creatures that gain benefits from being sick.
Version 1.2: (Some 1.1 changes were reversed as then bacteria were too weak.)
- Maximum bacteria amount has been reduced by 10 and minimum by 5.
- Bacteria jumping chance by sneezing has been reduced. |

I've now included an extra folder with two experimental cos files that should prevent bacteria from ever infecting a Creature with chemical 78. (ATP decoupler.)
Let me know if there's any bugs in those files.

I didn't want to do that entirely because there might be people who find that inconvenient. And it's not just that one chemical I find inappropriate for bacteria - just the most blatant.

I'd have to look into mutations and ATP decoupler later. If immunity to ATP decoupler is what you wish though, I recommend just disabling the genes in your Creatures genomes.
As far as I know, the 2017 Bruin, Bengal and Civet are immune to ATP decoupler to make up for their weaker immune systems.

Yes please! Nice. Is there a way to make it so they can't mutate useless and unfair things like atp decoupler? I mean yeah that can happen IRL but hate we don't have lesser life forms that can evolve to take their place if they're all wiped out instantly. And since instant death for everyone isn't conducive to evolution I see no good reason to allow bacteria to ever be instantly fatal.

I love the sound of this tweak, I'll defiantly try it out. Although "pandemics" is a thing that can happen irl, the populations in creatures are too small to handle very lethal bacteria. With that said, the splendid thing is that you've not removed anything, just made it more realistic and a less extreme. Thanks~
