Short form:
Is Vampess' updated breeding script still mandatory in 2022? ... Assuming one is using one of the more recent genome bases descended from Creatures Full of Edits?
Long form:
So, I'm a lapsed player who has spent the last week trying to grasp all the effort that has gone into improving the C3 genome over the past 20-odd years. I'm unambiguously impressed by everything that I've read, but since the more prominent genome bases appear to be descended from CFE, I'm concerned that many may still functionally rely upon Vampess' updated breeding script in order to maintain stable populations during feral/wolfling runs.
While I've been able to track down the script itself, provided courtesy of EemFoo's Archive, I've been hearing whispers of unpleasant and thoroughly undesirable errors that might emerge when the script is installed. I've already encountered some of these issues, personally. Furthermore, there is (admittedly scant) evidence that the script might not be capable of fulfilling it's intended function at all.
So I thought I'd best ask the community directly. Is Vampess' updated breeding script still mandatory to achieve stable population growth these days? Has anyone had genuine problems passively maintaining population levels with 2017 or TWB genomes, WITHOUT Vampess' script installed? Or was this mainly an issue that affected CFE & CFF? I'm blown away by the independence and overall behaviour displayed by creatures derived from these newer genomes, but I'm not relishing the thought of having to micro-manage the love lives of my norns in the long-term. |

It shouldn't be necessary for maintaining a population, seeing as it only allows creatures of the same gender to interact positively with each other iirc.
The activate 1 and 2 separation script made by Verm contains these fixes while also changing the pull action into a tickle instead of a kiss if you're looking for an alternative.

My personal understanding (which may be flawed) is that the vanilla breeding script gives creatures a profound feeling of disappointment after engaging in homoerotic activities. Which can theoretically lead to them giving up on "pushing norn" entirely, as they're neurologically incapable of differentiating a male partner from a female one... Not a problem for vanilla norns, as they've got the memory span of a goldfish, and will quickly forget the negative experience of kissing someone of the same gender.
But I'll have a closer look at that A-1-&-2-Separation script. Thanks for the tip-off. |
