 Spil Games has acquired the Creatures IP from BigBen Interactive, and is developing a free-to-play mobile game called Creatures Family, slated for release in 2017. You can read the full press release here, and read a forum topic by Spil Games here. |

So uh, I'm admittedly far more curious in the fact that they state they bought the IP. Not licensed or anything along those lines but actually outright bought it. | |||

It is an odd name. I hope they don't make too many tweaks to the underlying mechanics. Interested to see what these "teaser games" are. | |||

This paragraph gives me faith: The first full-blown free2play mobile “Creatures Family” game will be ready in 2017 targeting players 20yrs old and above. In the meantime, Spil Games will keep fans happy with a series of multi-platform teaser games starting this summer. These are designed to delight the existing Creatures fan base, while igniting enthusiasm with a fresh new audience in anticipation for the 2017 release. I like that they specifically acknowledge the exisiting community from the start. I don't think FC/BigBen really did that. | |||

That was fast, I didn't expect someone to buy the IP so soon. Mobile huh? Hopefully this will fruition into some sort of other release, it would seem silly to make any of Fishing Cactus's work go to waste | |||

They'll probably still be using assets from Creatures Online, but seeing as Creatures Online was pretty much ready for release anyway they'll probably be building on what has already been created. | |||

Yeah I'm confused on whether it's Creatures Online with a new name, or a whole new game... The name Creatures Family sounds kiddy to me, it makes me think of kids playing with a family of Creatures dolls in a dollhouse  That name sounds like it would be more of a "The Sims" type game

Not instantly taken with the name 'Creatures Family'... I'm sorry, I can't help it and have to say this before I burst; it reminds me of a corny, teatime sitcom. Still, this news was really unexpected, so let's see. I'm willing to give it a chance.

Is there a reason they couldn't have just funded CO to be finished, rather than making a whole new game from scratch?... Or are they actually using the existing game and renaming it? I'm sorry, i'm in a bad mood after reading a spoiler... | |||
