I'm quite surprised that there wasn't already a discussion for this series of games!

Super Smash bros is a series that I've been a fan of for a very long time, I've played atleast all the games except for the Wii-U version and I have to say my all-time favourite is the 4th game.

So a few starting points for discussions: What are your mains? Which game did you like best? What is your opinion on the new DLC characters?

My main in the Nintendo 64 Smash bros was Yoshi and Kirby, mainly because of Kirby's recovery and Yoshi's spike and shield since you usually had to tilt a shield downwards to block crouching attacks, except Yoshi is a huge exception to that rule and doesn't need to tilt his shield downwards, also his spike (forward air) was amazing because airdodging wasn't a thing in smash n64.

As for Melee, I played Marth, Roy and Mario mainly but I never got into the competetive scene of melee because the game was just too fast!

In Brawl I played Lucas and Snake quite often and in Smash 4 I have too many mains, I started off maining Shulk but now it's kind of expanded to Kirby, Marth, Ike, Wario, Lucina, Villager and Robin. [nsurprised]

As for the new DLC characters, I think Bayonetta is a very good character with a bit of a learning curve like Ryu has, and as for Corrin I think is also a pretty good addition to the roster, especially with that side special. However I do wish they'd nerf Corrin's counter attack due to the large area of effect it has when triggered and also due to the vertical knockback allowing Corrin to KO with it practically anywhere on the stage compared to other counter attacks.

As you can tell from my avatar, I, too, am a Smasher.

My mains have always been fairly consistent, with just a few variations; Yoshi, Mewtwo, Fox, Ice Climbers, Dr. Mario, Mr. Game & Watch, Random. Those have been the characters I used in every game they appear, generally in that order when it comes to frequency.

• Yoshi was the first video game character I ever chose back when I was a four-year-old playing Smash 64. I never stopped.
• Mewtwo and Fox—I'll be frank, I play them because I have a gigantic furry crush on both of them. This really should have been my first sign as a kid that I wasn't entirely straight.
• The Ice Climbers I just plain liked. I had no idea who they were as a kid, but hey, they were both adorable and fun to play as. They really got a raw deal when it came to Smash 4...
• Dr. Mario I picked up as a "tutorial" character when I was trying to get into Melee's competitive scene. I never got very far, but he stuck.
• Mr. Game & Watch just kinda fascinates me. I like the G&W games, and the way he's portrayed in the Subspace Emissary (at least behind the scenes) actually fleshes him out a bit.
• Random is what I use to hone my adaptability. I'm not good at reading/planning ahead, so I train myself to throw myself into any situation instead.

Single-game mains;
• Snake was just plain fun to play as. I miss that guy.
• Duck Hunt's just plain adorable. I never actively hated him like a lot of people, but his appearance in 4 made me like him a lot more and I want him to appear in more games.

As for the DLC characters, I like the concept, and I welcome five of them with open arms. There are just two I have a problem with;
• I don't like Cloud NOT because of who he is, but because they really could have done him a lot better. His gameplay's fine, but the Midgar stage and its songlist is just lazy, and—come on, they literally didn't even ASK his English VA to provide voice clips!
• I don't like Corrin because of the circumstances of his inclusion. Frankly, I feel kind of cheated by his presence; like, I feel like Smash 4 could've had a better farewell if Sakurai wasn't ordered to devote the development time to him.

I played all of the official games plus Project M and Super Smash Flash 2 extensively, though I mostly play the 3DS version now because I can't be bothered to march all the way to the Wii U and all that. Besides, I have a couple of accessories for my N3DSXL to make it a lot more comfortable.
• Smash 64, I still play sometimes. It has an arcade-y feel to it. Sometimes I even use an N64 controller in the later games with the help of an adapter because I want to get that same feeling.
• Melee, I USED to play, but its fanbase has really soured me towards it in recent years. I can't help but feel that there's some corruption going on among the top players, anyway.
• Brawl, I had fun with a lot for a while, but then I slowly began to realize its faults and then I just couldn't un-see them.
• I followed Project M because it took all of Melee's faults and fixed them. I can't bring myself to play it anymore, though. It just makes me feel too sad ever since it got C&D'd.
• Super Smash Flash 2 is the best fangame out there. I only don't play it more often because my cheap computer can't really handle it.
• Wii U, I adore for its customizability. I am a Stage Builder and Mii Fighter HOARDER, and I wish the game would let me store more of them.
• And, as I said, I mostly play 3DS now.

My NNID is "KarmaPilcrow", and my 3DS FC is 0344-9771-0514.
Preferences: I don't mind items, I just typically keep em on Low. I prefer to keep Customs ON, and I'm fine with equipment. I typically play with 3 stock and a 5-minute timer. I choose Custom Stages very often on the Wii U version.
Rules: No Wily's Castle, Gaur Plain (Wii U; 3DS is fine), or Pyrosphere. Those are my only actual rules. Literally anything else is A-OK with me.

Well honestly the 3DS version is all I have. I have played Smash 64, never owned a N64.

I have played Malee, never owned a GameCube. I have played the Wii version, never owned a Wii. I have no Wii U.

As far as mains go, I like using Pac Man, Mii Brawler, Little Mac, Zero Suit Samus, Kirby, and regular Samus.

Based on all characters I played on all the games, I have come to the conclusion that my mains are Samus, and Kirby.

My favorite game is the 3DS version. It is the first I ever owned, and most definitely the one I train with. Of all the 3 Nintendo systems I owned, ( SNES, Gameboy Pocket, and 3DS ) smash came to 3DS.

I was shocked at how Megaman was. He is too complicated for my taste.

As for DLC characters, I own none, but I am excited that they added some. Definitely a first. Rumor has it that NX upon launch or close to it will have the next smash. I hope they bring DLC aboard too. More info will be released about NX later this year, and I hope when we can expect it. Of course as well as what NX is.

I also play brawlhalla for steam. Doesn't have the bells and whistles that smash does, but the gameplay is similar. Me and my steam controller feel right at home with similar controls to what I use on the 3DS.

NNID is Dvader0086 Friend code is 0430-8310-4755 I prefer stock matches. I enjoy all items, and the only real stages I prefer the Omega stages for is Wily Castle and Mute City. Most definitely my favorites stages are Brinstar, and Pac-Maze.
