C3/DS Genetics Kit installation issues | |

Recently, I found a link to an old download of the genetics kit for C3/DS, but whenever I click to install, it loads an Anvil Studio setup instead. Afterward, it just closes. I tried searching for a solution online but had no luck. Am I doing something incorrectly? Btw, I'm using the GOG version of Creatures Exodus on Windows 10. I'm sorry if this has an obvious answer, I'm still a bit new to this. |

I had a similar issue with Fraps. Have you tried moving the setup file somewhere else? |

Yes, but it comes up with the same results. |

I seem to recall that the name of the installation is so generic that when you call the genetics kit's installation script, it triggers Anvil Studio's instead. If you've successfully installed Anvil Studio, I recommend you .zip that installation program to keep it safe (with 7zip or a similar program) so that it doesn't interfere with the GK's installation.

Well, I managed to run it through Winrar, which successfully got rid of the Anvil Studio setup. The only problem now is that when I click "ok" it pops up with the genetics kit exe (the window that lists the setup, cancel, and about buttons) the setup button is greyed out and nothing else comes up. Would it be possible to link a winrar/7zip/etc. file that contains the setup? If not, is there any other suggestions I could try?
EDIT: Another thing I forgot to mention is that the program is stuck running as admin. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it or not. |

Have you used the Creatures Remastered Patch? It could be trying to install into an impossible location on your system.

Yes, I have the Remastered Patch installed.
EDIT: I also have the documents update that came with it. |

Nevermind my last post, I finally got it to work by putting it in a .zip file. Thank you all for your help. |

Fantastic! Thanks so much for coming back and telling us how you fixed it, too: that'll make it a lot easier for the next person.
