Long Freeze When Selecting Breeds | |

When I use Muco on my home computer, I have to deal with the entire game freezing for about a second every time I switch between breeds or lay an egg. That doesn't sound like much, but it's really annoying, and it doesn't do that on my laptop. A semi-related purge of most of my third-party files hasn't helped at all, and the rest of the game runs perfectly fine. Does anyone know how I could try to fix this? |

Are you using the default Muco or the advanced Muco? I don't remember having any lag with the advanced Muco when looking at breeds.
Are there any of the genetic files used by the Muco corrupted? (They auto kill the Muco when you try to lay an egg of that breed.) The only time I remember having trouble with the Muco was when those corrupted gen files broke the Muco. |

For me that lag only occurs the first time I select a new breed in muco, probably because it has to unpack the egg glyph sprite first. I believe it also lags a second time when selecting the same breed, but the opposite sex (because usually male and female egg glyphs are separate files).
Other than that I'm not sure. Might be a corruption like mea said. Or your home computer is so weak that the mere act of asking the agent file about the egg glyph's file name is too much of a strain.

The weird thing here is that my home computer is actually a lot faster, at least with fast ticks. It runs fast ticks decently quick, but has this problem. Meanwhile, my laptop can barely maintain 100 frames in fast ticks in an empty world half the time, but has no delay at all when using Muco. |

Do you have a similar delay when selecting or injecting agents? |

No. Sometimes, there's a very small delay, but that's when I select something big, like a metaroom. |

How many breeds do you have installed?
Have you tried Advanced Muco? |

I have 39 breeds, 50-60% of them genetic, and a total of 172 files in my agent folder. Advanced Muco has no problems scrolling through the pages, and the game only lags when I actually select one of the breeds. |

Are the breeds displayed correctly after the lag or do they look off? And how about autokill? Do you get any results when you turn it off and re-trigger the lag?

Besides the pauses when changing breeds, selecting sexes, or laying eggs, Muco works entirely as expected. Disabling autokill does nothing. |

Does anyone have any ideas for how I can fix this? It's really annoying to have to deal with. |

Do you have similar problems with other egglayer type of agents like the C3 one or the portable egglayer?

I haven't checked, and I can't at the moment due to being at school, but I think creatures getting pregnant might cause similar, shorter pauses. |

Backup, try a fresh install, then try moving your stuff back. overwrite only the stuff that comes from downloaded agents. My guess is some base file got corrupted. |

That worked! Everything loads faster now, not just Muco. While moving all my folders back in one by one, I discovered that the cause of the lag was not a corrupted base file, but three and a half thousand exported creatures that had been sitting in there since September. Whoops. |

Three and a half thousand?! Oh, man! I'm glad you found the cause, though!
