I have downloaded Creatures Exodus on a windows laptop and when I go to open it, an error occurs and tells me to set my display to 16 bit color. My laptop, however, has no setting below 32 bit. I was wondering what my options were for remedying this issue? |

If you right-click on the shortcut for Exodus (or Creatures 3 or Docking Station) and select "properties," you should see a compatibility tab. Click that, and under Settings check the "Reduced color mode" and make sure it's set to 16 bit.
This is assuming Windows 10. Windows 7 and below should have an option to switch to 16 bit mode under the general display settings.

Right click the engine exe
Hit properties
Hit compatibility
Under settings check reduced colour mode and select 16 bit.
Enjoy!
Edit: Me and Grendel man must've been typing at the same time lol |

Okay so I restarted and fiddled with it a bit and now I get this error instead,
"The game could not be started due to a direct draw error.

i have the same problem, but with creatures village
nobody had any clue how to fix it, so i'm afraid that this problem may be unsolvable
try running it in virtualbox and see if that helps? |
