If it isn't one thing...
So. Genetics Kit was being recalcitrant. I could inject eggs, but not edit genes. So I download a couple of alternatives. One of them requires some DLLs to be installed to work. I install them. The alternative works. Great! I gengineer happily.
Only now every.single.possible.way I can find to inject an egg won't work.
EVERY ONE.
I've tried EggMaker. I've tried Devthing. I've tried Chris Double's thing. (It might work with C3, but it doesn't seem to like DS.)
I am so damn frustrated. I really don't want to have to make an egg agent every time I want to test something. -.-
Does anyone have any idea what's going on here or how I can get a fresh copy of this "dynamic injection DLL"? Genetics Kit tells me it can't connect to the engine, and I suspect that might be the problem with Devthing too, but EggMaker just keeps autokilling. I've put the genome into both the MyDocuments Genetics folder and the Docking Station folder.

Have you tried Mark Ashton's "myfunkygenome" CAOS?

Ooooh! No, I hadn't. I did get EggMaker working at last, but if the agent decides to go bad on me again it's awesome to have this as a backup. TYSM!
That said it turns out this problem screws -any- program that tries to connect to DS. So no Biochemistry Kit, etc., either. Still hoping for a fix for this if one exists.

At this point maybe it'd be easier to back up folders and reinstall a fresh game (and maybe fresh copies of the connecting programs too, while you're at it)? At least then if it breaks again as you add the folders back in, you'll have narrowed it down. |

Did that already. Didn't help. The issue isn't any given folder, per se, it's a .dll I installed to make one of the alternate genetics programs work. Ironically, it's working fine *for what it's intended to do*. The problem is it broke other stuff in the process. And getting rid of it to restore the other stuff won't help because then I can't gencode, and if I can't gencode, I have no need to inject eggs. :p
