I am reading that you can run Creatures 2, using DxWnd ( https://creatures.wiki/DXWnd ) to fix the lag in windows 10, that is caused by broken API. I have followed the instructions, and I am opening the game through the DxWnd app, but the settings don't seem to be used... The game still lags, and I still get the "run the game in 16 bit color" even though I have configured the app to run the game in 16 bit color. Anyone have any experience with this, that might be able to help out? I've done everything the Creatures Wiki ( https://creatures.wiki/DXWnd ) tells me to do. |

The wiki instructions for DxWnd appear to be completely wrong, in my experience. At least, on Win7, it won't even load with those settings. I got it loading with very, very different settings, but it has a bunch of problems and C2 works fine on Win7 natively, so no VM or emulation necessary for me fortunately. Would be nice to know the proper settings for DXWnd, simply to avoid the 16BPP switching. |

C2 runs ok on windows 10, natively, if I reduce the resolution so there aren't a lot of moving things on the screen at the same time. I avoid the 16 bit thing by left clicking the exe file, opening the compatibility tab, and choosing the run in 16 bit option there. That has worked in all versions of windows, for me. Running the game through DXWnd does absolutely nothing, it seems. Not even the 16 bit color option works through that app. The options don't seem to affect the game at all, for some reason. I had hoped it would fix the lag, so I didn't need to adjust my resolution every time I played them game. |

Win10 emulates 16bpp compatibility? I'm jealous! Win7 doesn't have that option. |

That's odd :O I thought I was using the same workaround as I did back in win 7, but I must not be remembering correctly, and I am under the impression that you are pretty good with computers, and would have known about it if windows 7 had that function. What does the compatibility tab look like in win 7? |

Maybe a download link to it or something might be best? I'd be interested in taking a look at it too. On Win7 you need to use totally different settings to even get it to load (different renderer emulation, different dx version, etc). |
