I tried to start a new wolfling run in a new world, however the grendel mother is continuously producing gargoyle norns instead of grendels. This has never happened to me before, does anyone know how to fix this? |

This happens sometimes, grab this fix to stop it: https://creatures.wiki/Grendel_and_Ettin_Maker_Update (posting from my shoephone)

The reason this happens is because the Grendel Egg Layer's code, by default, looks for genomes starting with the letter "g" when laying an egg.
The gargoyle norn genome's file name is "gargoyle.gen." So the end result is that the grendel egg layer gets a chance of producing gargoyle norns instead of grendels.
There's an agent available here, the Grendel & Ettin Egg Maker update, that'll put this issue to rest.
If that download doesn't work for you for whatever reason, you'll need to do some scripting:
Go into your "Creatures 3/Bootstrap/001 World" folder, and look for the file named "Grendel and Ettin Egg maker.cos." Open that up; I recommend using the CAOs Tool, but you can also open it with Notepad or an equivalent program.
Look for the line:
Change that to:
Save it. If you're playing a Docked world, you can then open up the CAOs Command Line (Shift + Ctrl + C) and type:
ject "Grendel and Ettin Egg maker.cos" 7 |
To reinstall the Grendel Mother. If you're playing C3 Standalone then you'll either need to inject the file via the CAOs Tool if you're using it (Click the button with the paper and three lines on it; if you hover the mouse over this button, it should tell you that it's for injecting the install and event scripts), or otherwise make a new world for the changes to take effect.
If you go the scripting route, you might also want to change the line:
to:
Otherwise, you'll get a similar issue with the ettin egg layer producing norn eggs, should there be a norn genome that begins with "E."
Edit: Aaaand I'm ninja'd.

Are you sure C3 does not have the CAOS command line on Ctrl Shift C? I am moderately sure it does, as it is kind of a crucial tool. I know that C3 is a bit primitive in some aspects compared to DS, but THIS simple?

@Papriko: C3 Standalone does have the CAOs Command Line. It just doesn't have the "ject" command, which is DS only and what I was referring to.

Huh, didn't know DS introduced that one... Development must've been a pain pre-DS
