C3/DS Genetics Kit Not Working?
Delcron

I have been trying to teach myself how to use the C3 genetics kit with its helpful PDF file. When I finish one of the tutorials and try to export and lay the egg I get the popup but the only genome it ever uses is 'dave'. When the egg hatches it always hatches a baby magma norn with no genetic changes at all. I tried using the chi chi norn and the magma norn genomes but the outcome never changes. Had anyone else had this problem and/or knows how to fix it?

Does anyone have a solution for this?

It may be that the the egg pack still links to the original genome

I had a similar question in this topic, and Malkin helped me. I hope you can benefit from his answer too.

Thank you for trying to help Aliena, but my problem still persists. I think I cloned a broken-sprited norn and it created some weird file that won't allow itself to be deleted and ugh. I just wanted to make aqua siamese norns XD

I think the genetics kit is looking in the wrong folder.

I'd suggest searching where exactly this dave .gen file is (or figure out a way where the genetics kit is searching for the genes), saving your genetics in the same map as this dave genetics file and then trying to inject again.

Maybe that would work?

If all fails, maybe running the Creatures Remastered patch works.

I'll try that, thanks for the advice!

Personally I can’t ever get that to work correctly. I back up the genetic file of a breed, I put the magma norn’s genome back up in a separate folder, and then I overwrite the genetics file the egg layer uses for the magma norn. When I’m happy with a genome I rename it and make an agent for it. If you don’t want to make an agent you could create a few of your finished product export them and make a starter pack of creature files.
