What's wrong with my creatures? | |

I've noticed a startling trend among my creatures in Docking Station. Once they reach adulthood, they seem to simply sit down and stop doing anything. They do not respond if I ask them things or to tickling/slapping. They will start to walk if I lead them and once I release them, they'll blindly keep on walking in whatever direction I lead them in, eventually starting to "wall bonk". They're normal as babies and a few individuals do not act like this once they mature.
What is going on? Is it a bug? Are they starved on something? Didn't they learn enough a babies? Are they drugged..? It's really weird and it's creeping me out, it's like they're turning into zombies!
I've concidered to monitor them but I don't even know what I'm looking for
Nearly all my creature's genetics to uses 2017 CFF genes and are first generation ones. It applies to ettins, grendels and norns. |

I'm having sort of the same issue I think.
After a while I notice that most creatures are just grouped together and do nothing but eat something and hope there's a creature of the other gender around whom they can push. And that goes on.
I think it's an issue with the 2017 genes.

Curious! I've tested the 2017 genomes for hours and hours and I've never come across the issue that you're describing here. Could you upload some of said Creatures here on Creaturescaves so that I can look into it? I'm working on an update for the 2017 genomes and I must know if it's something that I can fix genetically. |

Oh, I see! Thanks~
The CFF's are amazing, I'm excited you're looking into improving them further
I made a zip with a few creatures that has this issue, I can fetch more if needed. It's two norns (fallow & hardman), a grendel (C3) and an ettin (looks like a poodle but is using the C3 ettin genome).

They're from a wolfing run kind of world and are in a pretty bad condition as they've just been sitting around. I also noticed that the norns are acually still "youth" too, maybe it rather occurs after a certain amount of time than by lifestage..? |

I downloaded the creatures, and they are weird. xD
I checked out some stuff and it seems their motor faculty is disabled. (targ norn outv soul 2 gives 0.)
If I re-enable the motor faculty (targ norn soul 2 1), they suddenly turn back to normal.
I have no idea what caused this.

Really, really strange... Thank you for looking into it!
It happens in all worlds too, it seems.
I wonder if there's some agent/cos I'm using that does this. But I don't think I'm using anything "exclusive", it's all common things...
I'll try to run DS all vanilla and see what happens.
EDIT: Yes, they seem to be okay in vanilla state. It must be one of the agents I've injected into the other worlds?
EDIT 2: I'm gradually adding agents but so far I've been unable to intentionally replicate this issue. |

So it is a script that is messing with the Creatures after all. I tried looking into agents that influence youth/adult Creatures but to no avail. If you keep failing to replicate the issue, could you provide me with a list of agents/cos files that are located in your Creatures folders?
By the way; keep in mind that if the cause of this is a .cos file that you need to start a new world in order for changes to apply. |

This is quite a headscratch. I've gradually injected nearly all agents & rooms I've have and ran the world for 8h+ but still nothing!
I'm quite a user of magicwords (mainly room editing) and the Garden box. I also "Kill hots" a lot. I wonder if that has played a part? What bothers me is that I've had worlds act like this more than once, thus is seem to be something specific that I'm doing rather than a "freak accident". Maybe I'm hitting a fast command I'm unaware of.
(I started fresh with a new world so any *.cos should be fine too)
I've gone back to the world with damaged creatures and used "targ norn soul 2 1" on them. I'll then let the world run on it's own for awhile. I want to check if they'll get back into that state zombie, to see if happens in "waves" or if it's some one-time-thing that I manually trigger when playing.
I still can send you a list if you wish Arnout |

Did you download/install any of the recent agents? There was a help question on the forum some time ago which messed with the soul factory to have creatures express less, maybe you accidentally disabled the wrong factory?
Just guesses.
(Also, next time it happens you can enumerate through all creatures to enable the soul motor factory, so you don't have to do it for each norn. enum 4 0 0 soul 2 1 next )

I remember having the exact same problem in one of my worlds long ago. It turned out that I had the New Shortcuts from Amai installed (the one from this blog post: http://naturingnurturing.blogspot.de/2009/11/ccsf-09-releases.html ) and had accidentally activated Ctrl-7.
Is it by any chance this script that is causing your problem? Try pressing Shift+Ctrl+7 and see if it does anything. |

Oh, haha, thanks Pilla, that is so much smoother than doing it for each individual
Yay, Linda, I think you nailed it! I got "New Shortcuts" and I use Magic words/CAOS commands a lot, so it seems very probable that I occasionally activate that script without realizing it (didn't even remember that this was a thing I had installed). It also explains why it only occurred in older creatures as any born after the mistake wouldn't been afflicted by the script. Thank you~ |

You're welcome! I'm glad the mysteries solved then |
