It lags continuously, I googled it and found a very old thread here on the forums saying the solution is to go to older graphics drivers but I'm really not about to do that I need my graphics card to run optimal...

You might have better luck running it inside a virtual machine, if you have the time to set one up, as it tends to bypass that sort of thing. |

Alright I'll take a look at how to do that, thanks!

It also seems to lag on Windows 10 as well. As xan said your best bet is probably to use a virtual machine. Keep in mind you'll need an actual disk image to use it. |

Tiny infodump: I use XP for my creatures setups for its relatively small size+memory footprint and it's not hard to come by working XP install images these days if you know where to look. 98 would work too, but you might have networking problems (eg. file sharing to the host OS); so would vista or 7 but then you'd be doing backwards compatibility inside the backwards compatibility and that's awkward. I use VirtualBox, but not for any particular reason other than its free-ness (ie. VMware is just as good). OEM images (eg. disk that came with an old laptop) usually won't work. Good luck! |

I do wonder what causes the lag. Surely it must be something DirectX or graphics-related? |
