This is accurate. Creatures is complaining about your colour space, which has nothing to do with which version of Windows you have. As such, you simply need to head into your monitor setting and change the colour to 16-bit and then they should work. C1 seems to work for me with no changes, C2 changes it automatically for me (with a dialogue box) and c3 only needs to be changed in windowed mode.
