I've been trying to test out my new genome, but the Egg Maker seems to autokill itself every time I try to lay the egg. It'll load the genome fine, it just won't lay the egg.
I am running the GoG version of Exodus, with minimal agents in the world.
Is there a way to fix this?

I don't actually use that agent but the Portable Egg Layer is an alright alternative. Also, I might be mistaken, but I think you could also use the Eggernator.

Maybe to start off with, turn off autokill just as you lay the egg, and see if the egg lays or if you get an error?

I'm guessing this is probably one of those Exodus-only issues, but without the error message I can't say for sure. Turn autokill off first (Ctrl + Shift + W, then Ctrl + Shift + A) and see what error it gives you.

I'm not entirely sure how to turn autokill off...
It reminds me of the bug with the Quirky Cookie Machine...
Edit: Was ninja'd by Grendel Man. Now know how to turn autokill off.

If that's the case, then it can be fixed by moving some catalogue files around to the right place.

Ok - it looks like it's looking for the gene file in all the wrong places. Try putting the gene file into the other Genetics folder.
(If the gene file is in CProgram Files (x86)\Gameware Development\Creatures Exodus\Docking Station\Genetics, try looking for an analogous folder in My Documents and putting it there.)

Thank you, Lily! I've put a comment on both of the Egg Makers so that anyone with a copy of Exodus knows to try this now.
