A small presentation of our project! We intend to post little tidbits and previews of our progress here, showing that we're still active and well. Note though that what we show here is a work in progress, so things may look or function differently in the end. We don't even know if it will be called "The Banshee Ark", haha.
The basic idea is an ark, similar to the one in C3, except it was owned by the banshee. However, we've pictured it as a station rather than a ship. It has been abandoned for long, allowing the tech to get worn and plants to roam freely. There's a slight focus on grendels but it will suit ettins and norns as well.
We want this project to be a replacement, or an addition if you want a huge area to roam, to C3. It's a large assignment consisting of a hub and a series of metarooms connected to it, with a total of 6 rooms of various sizes planned. There will be some larger tool-gadgets, such as an airlock and a splicer, but also a lot of smaller ones like vendors and toys. There's loads of new flora and fauna but also a few classic ones imported from Albia. We also want there to be at least one genetic breed.
We currently intend to release things gradually to keep us all continuously entertained. This all may sound ambitious but we have been on it for several months already! Several parts are close to being ready for release, still it's too early to say when this will happen (ones never know if you'll run into... issues). Either way, the point is that the project healthy and we're far into the progress.

I'm very experienced when it comes to .mng files. Mushroom caverns even had custom music! I believe I have some unused sounds lying around too, and I am experienced with software such as Reaper and Audacity. I'd like to help out on the project for the music, maybe even some of the sound effects too. |

I have made music, some of which you can find on my Bandcamp here. However, I have no idea on how .mng files work though. |

I'm glad the project is still going! If you need another coder, I could code something. Though between Pilla and Arnout, you probably have everything covered.

Most of the code is almost ready, just needs some (lots?) of bugfixing here and there...
Uzag is working hard to finish/touch up the rest of the backgrounds and the agents that still need sprites.
Oh and catalogues. Blargh. It seems nobody likes writing catalogues. I definitely don't. So if you are a writer and feel like you could whip up catalogue files for 100 things.... Be sure to shoot us a message. :K

I really prefer to just throw the code at someone and make them figure out themselves how to get a description for every item in a catalogue file XD
Listing the items themselves is so much work already.

Isn't it possible to create a single catalogue file for a whole metaroom?

You can put as many agent help descriptions in a single catalogue file as you wish. (DS) Agent Help.catalogue contains all base game descriptions, for instance.
If I am not mistaken, we're keeping agent descriptions in different files so that each metaroom can be injected seperately. Some of the agents appear in multiple metarooms, so we want to be sure that nothing clashes. (The C3/DS engine is pretty strict about catalogues.) Pilla would have to confirm that though. |

Well, at least this is what I think. If you have differently named catalogues with the same tags, it clashes. But if you have any better ways to fix that, feel free to shout out.
So yeah, one catalogue per item it gotta be!

How are the files being managed? One folder for every agent, inside a folder for each metaroom?

I have one folder in which I throw pretty much every file. (cos, c16, blk, catalogues)
Then for each separate injectable part, I create an 'installer' file that's filled with the CAOS2PRAY that 'binds' everything together.

I was asking just in case you needed a hand with the catalogue files, but since then you've mentioned that the team's got that all sewn up. This is a great worked example of a CAOS2PRAY file for a metaroom, though!

I'm working on compiling the agent packs, while also adding support for Garden Box in the agents.
Have a sneak preview...
I've finally taught myself how to PRAY, so now I can handle multiple agents showing up in the agent injector, while just needing one agent file for all of them.

A small update:
I have tried to make most of the items compatible with the Gardenbox too, the GardenBox alternatives will be packaged together with the agents.
We will probably start releasing small things soon, and keep the rest for during the CCSF.
Meanwhile, enjoy a gif of a cute critterish thing!

Update:
During the CCSF something went wonky with the doors.
The doors between the meso and desert hideout can't be activated by creatures....
Ooops.
This is quite a bad bug so I uploaded releases with the fix.
Download the Meso v0.8.2
Download the Desert Hideout v0.8.2
There you go.

I just tried the updates.
A slight improvement as now something happens when the creatures push the door.
But I don't think a light show and occasional teleporting of the hand was what you were going for.
At least as far as I can tell so far no creature actually managed to get through the door.
I'm also not sure if it is possible to leave the grendel meso to get back to the station hub. (But I'm not sure as creatures only rarely even go to that place, so the few occasions when I saw some creature in front of the door it might not actually have tried to push it)
But at least it ics certainly possible to get into the grendel meso, so that is one door working |

Oops.
Fixed it.
The Desert Hideout is the metaroom with the wrong file, I just reuploaded it to the same place, so if you redownload & reinject the Desert Hideout it should work
Grendel Meso - Capillata should work just fine though.

Hooray it works
In other notes as you hinted at the betaship so nicely I added it to the same world.
First impression lit looks very nice(from a developer perspective at least)
I have to see how it holds up once I release some creatures into it

If you try going over the Banshee/C1 grendel with the egg layer in the Norn Terrarium (c3 Ark), do you also get this error? Or is it only with the Grendel egg layer?
I can't seem to find the C1 grendel online. The wiki doesn't mention it either - https://creatures.wiki/Category:C3/DS_Grendel_Breeds

I think the c1 grendels come with C1toDS? I think that's the agent file that adds them into the game. |

Yeah, they're the grendels from C12DS.
I get a lot of errors on the Norn Terranium egglayer, it doesn't like...a lot of things. |
