Was not quite sure where to put this question, but I think it can turn into a discussion on development so I figured this would be appropriate...
I was wondering if anyone has ever used custom CAs for anything, like the unused customizable CA #19, and if so, what they used the CA for? The only thing I am aware of that made special use of CAs was the Butterfly Norns, and that was with 'flower smell' (CA 9 I think) to make it so they could detect and navigate to flowers and plants better (and also see them as home I think)

There was a Radiation Emitter created by Clohse a while back that used CA 19 as "radiation." Depending on the levels of this CA, it altered the amount of Heavy Metals within creatures that were present. More recently, I believe CA 19 is used in Moe's C2toDS as "wind" for determining how the clouds move around.

Interesting... I also have good reason to believe that CA 0 (sound CA) is not really used in the games in any official sense... I see no evidence of emitters anywhere either when playing or in scripts, and using a CA detector around things that one would think should be making sounds, as well as talking creatures, does not seem to ever show the appearance any of this CA, so it seems that the game engine isn't manipulating it directly either.
I also see no evidence of creatures 'audible event' neuron ever being triggered by anything (or even any evidence of it being linked to anything in any way that could have an effect on behavior)... I should be able to make a gene that can prove that for sure, though. Lately I've been testing neurons, smells, and stims by associating them with large increases in either comfort drive or an unknownase chemical I can detect with the X-ray... this way I can tell easily from the chemical or drive if they are being triggered.

Wouldn't CA 19 effecting the heavy metals in a creature require creatures to have a gene that associated heavy metals with CA 19?
Interesting that CA 19 is used by the clouds in C2toDS, I didn't know that. |

You could make a gene like that, but the agent probably works using a timer script which occasionally looks at the amount of CA 19 in the area each creature is in, and then uses that value to decide how much heavy metals to inject into it.
