Extending Norn Lifespan

Is it possible to extend a Norn's lifespan without making it immortal? I heard the secret is in the Life receptors, but I don't know if I should be messing around with those. Any ideas on what I could do?

In the half-lives gene (usually gene 26), you can just increase the half-life of the life chemical (125). Since this will make it decay more slowly, this will make all of its life stages last longer. So if a certain adjustment here makes it live twice as long, it will be a child twice as long and so on. The math on exactly how much of an increase an adjustment here will give you is a little complicated, but basically their lifespan will begin to grow exponentially as you increase this.

The life receptor genes contain the thresholds for how much life chemical it should have left in its system before it ages to the next step. So the child receptor has a larger value than the adolescent, which has a larger value than the 'youth', and so on.. until the last receptor that tells it to die of old age. The 'Threshold' Slider would be the one to adjust if you want to change the length of any particular life stage. These are pretty safe to adjust. If you want it to grow up at a normal rate but live longer, for example, you can just lower the thresholds for the life stages after adult... You shouldn't get any weird effects unless you leave some threshold lower than the threshold for the next life stage. You could do this on purpose though if you want it to skip any lifestages.

Word of warning- Norns from C2 onwards tend to be explosive breeders, so without additional changes to make them less fecund a longer lifespan just means even more eggs!

Great posts from both Evolnemesis and Feddlefew! Editing the half-life chemical might be the easiest thing to do if you're just concerned with lengthening the life span, and not editing the relative time spent in each life stage. If so, I created a quick table of half-life values and times for all of the Creatures games. Depending on which game you're working with, the different values correspond with different periods of time. Good luck!
