Dear fellow Community Members,

A few days ago I had a wonderful idea for a community metaroom project that will allow anyone to participate. No matter your skill, nationality, gender, age or BMI, you can help!
Well, you kinda need a scanner or digital camera. And internet access. And a computer.

The Idea:
Everyone draws simple doodles on a piece of paper, scans them and sends them to yours truly. I will then cut these up in Photoshop and puzzle them together into a metaroom. With some luck, the room will look like a wonderful collage of the entire community. Plants, critters, food and toys will also be drawn by all of you. For now, all coding will be done by me.

What should I do?
Get started, of course! To get things going, we'll need scenery doodles. This post will get updated as the project wombles along.

Oh, ok. Be more specific?
We'll have to have some guidelines to keep the chaos within limits:
- Use crayons, pencils or coloured pencils only. No digital art programs like paint or photoshop.
- Use Creatures perspective: Objects are seen from the front or side, hardly ever at an angle.
- No heavy shadows or lighting
- Use white paper to draw on. Paper with lines or squares on it is fine as long as they're a light colour.
- No punch holes in the paper.
- Don't draw too big, if I have to resize it'll look terrible.
- If you add text, faces or funny shapes to random objects, it'll be less likely to be included. It's no fun if every rock looks like a Easter Island head, but one or two funny things won't hurt.

So what should I draw?
Check the bottom of this post to find the list of currently needed doodles, which are needed most and which have already been completed.

Done! Now what?
Send your doodles to
johan(curly 'a' thingy)coencologne(dot)be
in .png or .jpg format. If the image is small, .bmp is fine too. Be sure to include your community name, but try to avoid using an email address with your real name in it. Internet safety and all.
A safer way would be to upload it to an image sharing site and PM the link to me.
Don't upload it to a public place like the CC gallery, since it'll be more fun if the first screenshots of the room will be a surprise.

Suggested sites:
Imageshack
Tinypic
PicYes

Will I be credited?
Yes and no. It's a community project, so everyone is equally important. Everyone who submits something will have their name included in the readme, even if your doodle doesn't make it in. I won't say who made which doodle though. Copyright issues and stuff are totally ignored. I won't use your images for anything but this room, and won't sell it or anything. Deal? Deal.

Is there any other way I can help?
You'll only be credited for submitting doodles. But I do need someone to list a few handy image sharing sites so I can add them to this post. Spreading the word is also awesome. And you can always get your brothers and sisters and friends to help out, or secretly cut the doodles from their schoolbooks.
Oh, and spell-check this post for me. Thanks.

That's it?
That's it. I'll update this post as things progress.

CURRENTLY NEEDED DOODLES:
1st Mission: Scenery
COMPLETED!

2nd Mission: Fruit & Berries
Ok, this should be a very fun mission! Now that the room has trees and bushes, we will need fruit and berries to grow on them! But to make this easy to code, the doodles must be drawn according to the following rules:

Fruit:
Each piece of fruit will need 3 images, see the images of the Square Root apples for reference:
Fresh fruit: This fruit is hanging from a tree or has just fallen down.
Bitten fruit: A big bite has been taken out, about half of the fruit must be missing.
Rotten fruit: A pudgy rotten mess. You should not be able to tell if it has even been bitten or not.

As for the kinds of fruit... Go wild! Try to avoid common fruits like pears or apples, or fruit that grows in bunches like bananas. If you've ever played Neopets, think Gadgadsbogen! Fruit with odd shapes, strange spots, stripes,... As if it's from another planet. Fruit may have some leaves attached to the stem, but nothing too big.

Seeds & Berries:
Berries and seeds are bite-sized, so they only need a single image. Tiny triangles, circles, squares, stars,... The berries will grow on the bushes and will provide a dash of colour to the lower parts of the forest, so make sure they're bright and shiny! The seeds will pop from fruit that rots or gets bitten, they'll be mostly dark and brown or yellow in colour. Berries are allowed to have a single tiny leaf attached to them, if that looks cute enough.

Blossoms:
These will be what the fruits grow from. But! To shake things up a bit, which fruit grows from which blossom will be a mystery! The flowers will appear on a tree, and will change into a fruit drawn by someone else as soon as they are ready. Each flower must be looking directly at the screen, as you can see on the Square Root flower image I include below. This is to avoid a group of flowers looking silly if they all point the same direction. Berries will not grow from flowers.

Super-Secret Side Mission: X marks the spot!
The Scribble Metaroom still needs a spot on the map! I don't have a lot of experience with making metarooms that actually get released to the public, so I'm not very up-to-date with where current metarooms are located, and which spot would be safe. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. The current dimensions of the room are 1600x600

Interessting idea,Aquashee :3

I bet in the end it going realy to look like..
a big doodle in the end,eh o.o
I guess it's not called the name scribble without purpose ^^'

edit: also those who don't have a scanner and want to be in this,
they probably could draw in paint (with no color/shading etc) ?
wasn't refering to myself, cos I do have a scanner XD

Also this:
"so don't give them an outline. Rub a crayon on some paper and draw in pebbles, for example
"
I got a bit confussed here just the part with no outlines on that O.o
just color a round circle with a cryon to make a stone is no prob, but making rain for an example O.o? so drawing outlined stones, rains etc is no go ?
Just have to ask this, sounding silly or not, just wanted to have it crystal clear - hopefuly you be able to explain to me (if no one esle here of course) ^^'

just asking :3
otherwise, this sound neat, maybe join the fun as I love to draw anyway.
Don't have any cryons >_>
all I got is colorpencils and marker pens..not sure if those are any good? Otherwise i stick to normal pen.

so any deadline decided for this?

Yup, it's going to a big mess of handdrawn sprites. I'll try to mix and match the doodles as pleasing as possible, just imagine your norns fell into a sketchbook or something.

Don't 'maybe' join the fun, just join the fun! The more people help out, the more motivated I'll be to code. ;)

The deadline is when it's done, I suppose. I'll release things in-between when I can.

lol no prob, that sure will be a funny experience XD

btwn: I know I edited my first reply post a lot,but please do re-look at it - as I was updating it with something I was unclear with one part *blush*

hehe,well sure thing :D
I bet there's nothing that realy can stop me drawing XD

Oh O.o
hmm oki, well guess I gotta hurry then *prays that im not going to be late out*

oh and 2 question came to mind - will this metaroom have some kind of music in it and objects can be drawn as animated (doing various images used for animation,so to speak ? X3

Whoops, edited my post to make stuff clearer! Coloured pencils are fine, and the no-outline rule is only needed for the patches of material. I have to be able to cut various shapes out of these patches and piece them together into the room's floor and walls.

I look forward to seeing this metaroom develop too and I can't wait to see what everyone's doodles look like! :) You should take part though, Lucy, you're somewhat of an artist. :P

I shall be, when I feel better and stop coughing up my lungs.

tut tut, no excuses! All you gotta do is doodle a few things on a paper and scan it. You can even just doodle a single page full of stuff and I'll do all the cutting. Just cross out the ones you don't like. :)

I've started work on a sort of temple a bit like the C1 one, or the one in KT and some small bird-critters. Just two problems.

1. I can't use the E-mail, so can I just upload it to Ccaves images section?
2. I'm not really sure how to use a scanner.

Noooooooooo... *gasp* ...oooooooooo!
Read the first post carefully, silly norn. I want rocks, trees, clouds, stuff that goes in the background and doesn't move.
I'm then going to take all these and paste them together into a nice background. If there is going to be a temple, it's going to be built out of rocks you guys drew.

Food, flowers, plants, critters and toys are for later, further down the project. We have to do this step by step. Also, things like critters and plants will need very specific rules so I can animate them.

I'm very glad you're on board though, every bit helps :D
As for the scanner, you should probably ask your parents or find a guide somewhere. I barely know how my own scanner works.
Uploading the images to the gallery here would spoil the surprise, so perhaps check out some image uploading sites.

(There's an achievement in it for the first to list a decent one)

Sam999 and others: ImageShack is good place to upload your doodles. It gives you a direct link to your image, after you've uploaded it, which you can then PM to AquaShee.

AquaShee: I'd also suggest Photobucket as a good way of creating an album of people's doodles, so you can access them all easily. I think they also let you create categories.

Now then. *Goes to dig out her paper and coloured pencils* I'm going to draw some rocks! :D

@Harlequinade: I hereby inspire you to draw rocks. Or clouds. Why not a raindrop or two? Snowflakes and stars would also be great.

@Everyone: I'm not asking for inspired works of art, that's the beauty of the whole project. I'm asking for the teensiest contributions to make a big, wonderful whole. :)
If you just draw me a row of raindrops, a row of snowflakes and a row of stars you'd make an amazing contribution. :D

I guess that has to be a voting thing?

If many people send in a nice sun or moon, that'll just mean a new sun or moon every day! Same with snowflakes, clouds, stars and raindrops. It'll be really interesting to see all the different styles together.

I've just sent you my two pages of doodles, AS. I'm a bit worried though that some of the colouring didn't come out very good, like on the foliage etc. :\ Hopefully some of the rocks I've drawn will be of use to you though.

It's all very awesome, Laura. :D Too bad you crossed out one of my favourite rocks of the bunch, but I still like them. They're perfect.
Don't worry about the colour, I can always sharpen or lighten the colours a tad in photoshop, or put the lightest-coloured trees more to the back.

Ooer, Norngirl! Those are amazing. I'm stunned. I'm almost going to have to ask you to draw worse. :D (Don't draw worse though!)

Love the toys, bugs and flowers you drew, but we're not at that stage of the project yet. However, you did provide all the detail I need for their animation and stuff so I'll keep these. ;)

I'll update the post to emphasize the things we still need for the background of the room.

@C-Rex: Hmm, tricky. I guess if you scribble-colour them it's ok. I'm just worried that the artwork of some will be 'too' good compared to the others. But in the end it doesn't matter too much, we're all in this together. :) So yeah, use coloured pens if you like, but try and use them at a basic level.

:D But I will do try do other stuff too,as your'e feedback makes me now less worried it was a failure XD

clouds and stuff,here I come,yaaaah
