Hi guys. I've recently decided to try my hand at making a brand new breed. I am pretty good with Genetics, but the only things I cannot figure out are Sprites and scripting the breed together.

Here's a couple of questions:
Is there a way to make more than one sprite file at a time instead of having to do all 3392 individually?

Once I've made the genetics and sprites, how do I compile the breed together so I can make an egg file ingame?

I've never done any of this before, and I'm hoping to be able to learn it so I can give the Creatures Community a little surprise at the next CCSF :).

Hiya there,its good to see new breed creators coming ^^

as being a breed creator myself,i can only say,as far i know,sadly no,you have to edit the sprites one by one ^^' As you might know,the bodyparts are seperated in theyre own sprites,head allways having most images,while the other has less,but still its a lot of work ^^' All you need is fantasy,patience and a artistic side and a good paint progy X3

You can save all the images from a sprite,by using spritebuilder then export s bmp,i belive..
but then you have to edit them one by one..i have a faint memory of some people said you can import all of the images at once in adobe and doing something with a layer option,im not very familiar with that,since i take my time edit the bodyparts one by one in adobe ^^'

when done whith the sprites,
you only have to make sure you open genetic kit,alter the apperance genes,so they use the slots you choosed,as for making egg agents,is a thing i cant do by myself,but i belive people use a proggy called pray ^^'

Oh and yes,breeds need att files too,as far you dont do anything thats differ from most breed bases *large wings,big horns,extrem long tails etc* then your'e fine copy the existing set of atts of the base you working on ^^

I made a breed tut,not complete but it has quite most of the important stuff in it,i allready gave out it to a few people,but i have no clue if you are interessted,as well if you're pc is handling rtf documents that has images inside ^^'

anyhow,good luck with making a breed,and if theres something more you wanna know,i can try to be more clear and explain ;P

I also have contemplated making a norn breed, but meh looks like it needs too much time.
It's not the art itself as much as the hude amount of time! And it's the genetics I get rather confused with too, lol.
Also, I heard to make spriting faster, using a 3D modeller REALLY helps, there's a guide on here showing how to use the camera angle to get shots of the norn's features in different positions -as creature labs did...Instead of doing them all individually, which is fine and dandy but just takes forever/can be inconsistent.

But all in all, good luck to you, just be prepared for a nice big project =P

OH and there's another tutorial on here that shows how to make the egg agent file!
Now to remember which part of the site...

Thanks everyone. However, I'm having problems locating the Chichi Norn Sprites. I've tried looking for c.16 files beginning with D, but I can't find them.

The sprite names work a bit different. Norngirl showed me once how:

The first letter defines the body part:
A = Head
B = Body
C = left hip
D = left leg
E = left foot
F = right hip
G = right leg
H = right foot
I = left shoulder
J = left arm
K = right shoulder
L = right arm
M = tail base
N = tail tip

The first number defines gender and species slot (Norn slot, Grendel slot, Ettin slot, Geat slot)
0 = male norn
1 = male grendel
2 = male ettin
3 = male geat
4 = female norn
5 = female grendel
6 = female ettin
7 = female geat

The second number defines the age:
0 = baby
1 = child (usually not used, baby sprites will be used here)
2 = adolescent
3 = youth (usually not used, adolescent sprites are used here)
4 = adult
5 = old
6 = senile (same as child and youth)

The last letter defines the breed slot.
So would a05d.c16 the male, old chichi norn head for example.

Yep as papriko say ^^
only wanted to correct that in c3/ds,its Baby and child who share same sprites,not adolscent ^^'
but others correct,
youth and adult share same sprites, and old and senile share same ^^

The only differ is there for people who want to make differ ages for example,one for old age,one for senile ;P

hmm the chichi can be sometime tricky,but the sprites should be there ^^' Hopefully you can find them :3

It doesn't matter if you leave some ages out, they'll simply use the sprites they had before.
