Hi. I posted an Idea for a C2 critter on the creatures wiki website, and I decided to post it here to see how people react to it, or if it is possible.
"Dragon - A critter idea, of critters that are dragons and are classified as vehicles (so you can put creatures on them). This critter idea is for C2. They reporduce, and there are different types. If a creature touches an egg, that egg will stay dormant until a creature is near it and stays near it for about two mineuts. Then they will stay near that norn. They can be controled by the hand or the norn when they are old enough for the norn to "fly". If their "chosen rider" is a norn, then they will be of the Kilt dragon breed, or the more normal dragons. If an ettin, they will be the Mah dragon breed, one that likes to grab agents and bring them to the ettin home. If a grendel, they will be the Farg breed, a hardy breed that is very nasty. If a shee, they will be the Jent breed, or a blank slate to be formed by how they are raised. They can grab and eat other critters and (sometimes) creatures. However if trained properly, they will be obediant. They can also breathe fire, enabling you to have a dragon war. Make sure they get enough food, or your favorite norn may suddenly go missing. "
So, what do you think?

That would take a lot of scripting. Having more than one in the world would probably have a serious impact on game speed. But, if you can find a really good caos coder, they would be soooo cool! |

Someone reads a lot of Anne McCaffrey. That sounds really hard to do, but it sounds really cool.

I can sprite, I'm spriting for a few other projects in the CC already. Need a spriter? Just don't ask me to code. O_O |

No you won't.
Joking...
Okay, does some clever CAOS person know if I have to draw the sprites grey so the game can tint them easily?
I mean, If I coloured the sprites you would get lots of dragons the same colour. |

Hey Kc11 great idea! We previously have known that you were addicted to dragons. I figured this would come along eventually. But I don't exactly agree. I guess it would turn creatures into an almost completely different computer game. But it would be sorta cool.

Yeah. I've always wanted the creatures games to be slightly more adventurous. Always creating interesting stories for my norns, letting them live their destinies and such, and at the same time trying to make sure they survied the trip. That is one reason I got this idea. The other reason is, of course, that I like dragons. -_-

I do like the idea, though, as hard as it would be to make. But I still think that it would be almost like a completely different game. But I'm still in favor of it!
Another thing; Dragons are big creatures (surely you, of all people, know that). They probably would need a large, open, metaroom in which they would be able to stay. Just a suggestion.

C2 is rather big and open, you know. |

I'm thinking about making them just big enough so that they can hold two adult norns, but just small enough so that it can fly without to much trouble and get between areas.

I don't think KC11 has C3 or DS, or if she does she prefers C2, but it wouldn't be too hard for the caos coder to turn them into a C3 agent too. |

This doesent sound like a two week project. And it sounds very interesting but, quite difficult. Why dont you make a smaller less complicated critter and build off that?
Nine times have I been told im crazy and ten times I have accepted it. |

Because dragons are so much more exciting than jigglypuffs. Duh.

I miiiiight make it for C3/DS (and yes, I do have those games, athough i do not play them much because C3 is not as interesting and DS sometimes crashes into enternity.)
But first things first, I have to make the C2 version before I can think of a conversion.

@symia:
Im refering to making a critter that has the sprites of the dragon, and can move back and forth. Then coding it to fly, breath fire, etc...

Hmm...
Maybe if a coder simpley took the script of a critter, lets say, the scropion (of one of the life kits, can't remember which) and did some altering, it might turn out rather well.

Some altering?
I don't think dragons are very closely related to scorpions.
I'll scan one of my pencil dragon sketches (it won't be a sprite, because I'm not sketching every single pose) |

This might turn out to be pretty funny.

What I mean is that the scropion pretty much just walks left and right across the desert, sometimes biting a norn. If some genius coder altered it to make it a creature/critter eating, fire breathing, creature following, flying dragon, then we've got something. The scropion was really just an example critter. There are probubly dozens of better template critters in Albia.

If its a chasing flying critter why not base it on the hummingbird in c2, they chase (and sting) Norns and ettins and grendles that stumble by. AND, they are drawn towards another plant (AKA their food sorce). That would be usfull mif the dragons ate things (Grendles ) And where drawn to them.

You can download the proper genetics kits off gameware, but I think you need C3 to use the DS one. There are others.
Sorry it took so long, but here's a sketch
