In my search for a non-executable for the C2 Bony Grendals, I made a shocking discovery.
If I drag and drop the .exe into the C2 Images directory, I can launch the program no problem with Windows 10.
It dumps everything there sadly, leaving me to move everything about by myself, but I think this will mark a small project for me. Bringing those breeds out of their .exe files and re-packaging them so we can enjoy them again.
here is the fruits of my labor : Bony Grendal Download for C2

If you're experiencing issues installing the Boney Grendels on Windows 10, try the Creatures Remastered Patch. |

I don't really use it. I thought it was included with the GoG release. Is it even compatible with GoG creatures?

It is not included, and it is compatible.

A lot of the old Creatures installers were "self-extracting zips" - in other words, if you rename them from .exe to .zip, they'll often behave exactly like a zip file. I think you may have encountered one of these.
(knowing about this beforehand is one of the only ways to get to that stuff on Linux or OSX without using WINE...) |

Darn. And I took the time to hunt down all the files and repackage them so they could be dragged and dropped.

Sometimes you don't even need to change the file ending by hand. Some of the more robust zipping programs just accept it when you tell them to try and open the files.
