Found an odd Grendel today.

Imagine my surprise when I check my Grendel terrarium and find this cute little guy having been hatched by the Shee Starship. Now, I'm used to my C3 Ship churning out a steady stream of mean green grendels, but this guy seems to have a calmer, kinder demeanor and a wild pink/red color. He's a gen 1 and even though I haven't dug deep into his genes yet, he seems a bit different overall. I'm raising him in the Norn Meso on the Capillata to see if I can't get these traits to prove out in further breeding. I've got my fingers crossed! [nlaugh]

Any idea about their temperament? I haven't worked with them before.

He has exhibited mostly low anger and a tendency towards playing with toys and wandering around. Very norn-like, honestly. I was mostly surprised to suddenly see a red one running around gen 1. lol

Blood Grendels were intended to be a desert-loving breed that were aggressive, at least towards ettins, with some interesting quirks to their biology. In practice, they're generally pretty friendly; I believe their genome is actually based on a norn genome.

They do have some funky gaits that can get in the way of their navigation, for some reason I don't understand.

Here's their Creatures Wiki article, although it doesn't say a whole lot about them.

It is worth noting that their special color comes from them having a different sprite set from the normal grendels, rather than anything on the genetics end. So if you were to breed one with a normal grendel, you'd likely get a grendel with some pink-and-red parts and some normally colored parts, or one or the other depending on how the appearance genes were inherited.
