I have noticed that in C2 Cannie Norns, as well as the Norns that come with the game, the thirst drive seems to fill up way too fast.
Literally, if they do anything else than constantly drink, their thirst drive will max out in a matter of seconds.
Has anyone ever looked into this? It would be more beneficial for the drive to fill up slower, like the hunger drive. My Norns are almost never hungry at all, as they randomly eat stuff from time to time, long before the drive has any chance to increase.
Edit: It seems there is something with the incubation room that increases thirst more, as getting them out of there will tame the thirst drive a bit.
I checked the Norns temperature, and both heat and cold were low, so it's not that it's too warm in there. |

Could it be something they're eating? |

It just increases very fast in the desert and incubator area.
I thought it was because it was hot there, but they arent cold or hot, so I'm not sure why this is happening :S |

I've never had a norn die of thirst. I've also noticed that thirst gets very high in the hallway above the Shee Statue, this is likely unrelated to the heat in the adjacent volcano, though that causes thirst too. |

D'you have cobs installed that make the drinks reduce thirst (rather than just increase Water)? The original C2 drinks didn't come with a thirst reducer, so it could be that drinking doesn't reduce thirst in your game...

I have the patch that fixes thirst, yes
I am thinking there is some sort of bug somewhere, that increases thirst instead of heat, in warm places, as the thirst decreases, without drinking, when they leave these areas.
I've bin monitoring it with the science app, and thirst goes up and down instead of heat, in the Norns, when they are in hot areas.
This happens in both the c256 Norns and the Cannies. Havent tested any others.

Maybe that's by design? I know that in C3 and DS, creatures can overheat to death by dehydration - maybe the developers found that increasing body heat when norns were in the desert was just too fatal?

Ah, that might be it then, though I haven't seen Norns get thirsty for any other reason than being in these areas. It's like thirst is only used to "simulate" that things need more water when it's hot. |
