First of all, Nice idea about the color book!
But I think you do not understand the concept of "Breeds".
Also Warning - LOTS of text,Sorry for that!

First of all, Luurshtarphs Abbys Dragons are made up by two different breeds with sprites,
both none is made by him. Abbys Dragons IS his creation in that it's called a Genetical Breed:
it means it is uniq and special in genetics,making it act as a new breed,but use sprite sets of existing ones installed on your'e game.
The different coloring can allways be done by edit pigments & Pigment bleeds,to make the new genetical breed uniq ,as he done here.
The sprites a genetical breed is made of for it's look is the default official ones ingame such as C3 Civet,Bruin,Bengal norns,The C3 Ettin & Grendel. But if you download new breeds made by people,you have a wider selection to set the apperance to something that mix and match the sprites to something cool looking,otherwise you would be stuck with the few Norn breeds you have ingame of Creatures 3 (as mentioned beore) along with Chichi Norns from DS.

So,Lurshtaarps Abyss Dragons do NOT use only Alien's Gargoyle,but a person by the name Bug' who made the Dragon looking Norns in the first place,and this breed is called
Draconian Norns http://creatures.wikia.com/wiki/Draconian_Norn. So yes Bug IS the real breed creator of this dragons,otherwise Luurshtarp would not have any dragon looking breed,nor would he have wings from Gargoyle: http://creatures.wikia.com/wiki/Gargoyle_Norn_(C3/DS)
. So Credit would go to Luurshtarp making his Abyss Dragons,but also credit goes to Bug & Alien for the breeds Sprites he use parts of (Gargoyle & Draconian),making his Abyss dragon to be...Dragons in looks.

As for Carla-doe's example - The breed randomness and the messy crediting is not complicated. Creature breeds are made by sprites. This sprites is of bodyparts parts
and every breed takes up a breed slot,from A-Z, and species (Norn,Ettin,Grendel,Geat).
it is the sprite sets that make Creature uniq and cool looking. In Carla-doe's
Case,it is breeds used by Norn slot C,Grendel Slot A,Ettin slot A.
Those breeds that takes up this slots/species in Creatures 3 is allways the
C3Grendel (Grendel A),C3Ettin (Ettin A) and a Civet (Norn C).
So she do not use any special third party breeds - it is purely a Creatures 3 based one with the deafult ones excisting when you install Creatures 3. Civet Norn is the cow patterned Norn,The Grendel and Ettin is the ones you find in the desert and the jugle ingame.

But if she was having a Norn that used part of a third party instead,
Lets say it is Arnout's Giraffe Norn instead of Civet (taking breedslot Y of Grendel,even if it is a Norn-this does not matter,it's changed within the genus in the genom)
and we say that the default C3Ettin is instead SnapDragon's Yettins (Ettin slot N)
and Grendel,using Banshee grendels (Grendel B) - Breeds like the Banshee Grendel,Bondi Norn,Hardman Norn etc is official breeds, BUT you had to buy them in the past because those are special in that they have sprites,genetics and comes with agents (objects).

Nowdays, people who wasn't able to buy them in the past have to ask around and get send PM recive the breed packs - other once before paid breeds,such as siamese,zebra,astro etc is now free thought . Anyhow,but if we say Carla does was made by this third party breeds,
People that do not have them installed would not be able to see them as supposed to,
and require to download the breeds (or if wanted,any breed that use the breed slot,if not liking that kind of breed/using another set.)

So simply you would need to Credit by just saying they use Girrafe Norn,Yettins and Banshee Grendel (out of the 3 breeds,you would only need to credit Arnout and Snapdragon - as Banshee being a official breed,does not need any credit.) Also,Keep in mind a Creature
Can only use 5 apperance genes - Head,Body,Legs,Arms and Tail.
So The Credit list will never be that super long.

This is also how people list breeds used on theyre Creatures in the adoption of Creatures Caves - http://creaturescaves.com/downloads.php?section=Creatures&view=1409 (if you look at the first Norn,Samma,sent in by Karias.
Look at the list on Breeds it use - Flora,C2Desert & Golden Desert Norns. If you click any of them,you can see it leads to the breed list,
wich I explain below :

It shows the breeds name, who made it and what breed slot it takes up.
So what we see is Flora Norns,made by Amanora (The very same person who made additional pretty breeds,such as Butterfly I see many post here) and Desert/Hebbes - originaly a Creatures 2 breed,so it should not get credited- I know it takes amount of time to port past breeds and make them work into the games - some even comes with new tweaked genetics.So I would say the breed porters would be credited usualy but not in this case - it is a colorbook
the Desert Norn was ported by Charles&Donutking (this is seen on Creatures Wiki & Mummy's site,but someone should update it on CC , ) and Golden Desert (again a official C2 norn breed) but was ported by Razgriz for C3/DS.

So basicaly Karia's Norn,Samma would be just credit
Amanora,as Flora is a entirely new breed made by a fan,while C2 Desert/Hebbe & C2 Golden Desert Norn IS allready a official ingame breed in Creatures 2.

To see other breeds (Fan & official alike) in the list, you need to set it on for what game and Genetic+Sprites - NOT genetics only. This is the C3/DS list:

keep note that it is the breed slot that is important ,as it shows if it clash with breeds.
Another note is C1 use numbers instead of letters from 1-9.

I can take examples - Grendel X is a breed slot where you can find two different breeds:
Snapdragons Tiger Grendel and GhostHande's Dustdevil Grendel.
Both are entire new breeds - with own look and genetics,but you can only choose one
to have in your'e game. So thats why if I adopt a Creature part Tiger Grendel,will change all parts that was Tiger grendel into Dustdevil Grendels.
In such matter I think the person who post up the picture of it's creature
and is using any of those two - simply if he/she states it is supposed to have looks of
Tiger grendel,then it is Snapdragon who get credited -example-.
I guess it would also help if people mention for what game,as well.
Some breeds excist only in some Creatures games. There excist some ports,
but most are game exclusive. But yeah - as said,you could simply just mention
the breeds and the authors,without needing to type in breed slots/species,of course.

I bring all this up about credit & breeds ,because as a breed maker myself ,I'm quite sensitive if not getting credited for the things I make.

All of my breeds I put lot of effort,time and lots of work - most is sprites I have hand drawn,too (such as my Albian at Norn's wings,feet,tail and such)
My breed is also very different from the base breeds ,and is not mere recolors of base breeds either.To make breed sprites takes a long process and is not a easy thing.
You have to edit everybodypart,each having numerous images of said bodypart.
So yes, I think I should credit breed authors as well.I think it's just fair to give credit to
other who made the breeds. Without the breeds for downloads,people would be stuck with
same default breeds. It's just right to give credit to the people who own the creature,
but as well the breeds it is made up by the ones who created the sprites!
It's just polite and a nice thing to do! So if people do use any of mine,
hae to credit,thanks.

If people do not know what breed sprites it use and want to know,in order to download the breeds that make it look right (or some people that is simply puzzled why this awesome looking Norn they downloaded suddenly use default ingame sprites than having fins/wings etc,because they belive the Norn would allready look like that when downloaded to a Vanilla C3/DS.)
You can check a creatures looks by going to Genetic Kit or any gene editor - locate Apperance,there is 5 apprance genes,as mentioned before - Head,Body,Arms,Legs and Tail.
Just by looking at the apperance gene's sprite letter and genus ,along with the breed does tell what breed it use,by finding the breedslots letter &species slot that Creatures Caves breed list, Trix's breedlist (not up to date) is a good example,as well: http://home.scarlet.be/~jan128/
Hopefully I make some sense with all of my explenation.

I include the breed name,what breed slot (if needed to locate) as well what game they are for.

NOTE: I Only list breeds I made with MY own sprites (I fully respect and credit people who been part of helping me with resizing,genetics,egg agents,porting some of my breeds and such)
But since this is for a Color book - it is a mater of apperance,
and so I count my breeds with my sprites:

Buut if you do not want to draw any of those pose suggestion,then I guess I end up drawing them on my own pictures of my Norns X3
And don't forget to include credit or the breeds & authors!
(well at least I am picky when it comes to my own breeds,Just incase make it clear if anyone is part of my breeds,such as Neko Ettin,Pig Grendel etc)
I know the Colorbook is free,but still - can the owners of the creatures be credited,so can the breeds they are using (only exception if it is official Creatures breeds,that is clear as crystal).

So! Will you draw any of my Norns?
