Creatures Headcanons

Here's a place where we post the little things we feel would be reasonable if they were true about the Creatures universe but have dubious-to-no basis in canon.
Headcanons involving user/third party agents are allowed.

Just to get started:

• Treehugger Norns' fur feels like moss to the touch.
• The taste of metal is addictive to creatures; this is why they often try to eat elevators or walls. If given, for example, a fork, it's not uncommon for them to chew on it as a nervous habit.
• Much of the original Small Furry Creatures mythography remains true (not counting the parts that have obviously been overwritten). The Norns and Grendels still engage in ancestor worship, with the and The Journey is a practice that was historically common at one point—it's just tucked away in the realms of Nornir stories and legends now.
• While chess is a popular pastime, not many actually know the rules. Most "chess games" between creatures have rules made up arbitrarily and on the spot.
• Norns are engineered to utterly despise tea—after all, the Shee couldn't have their intended servants drinking what they were supposed to be serving! Offering a Norn tea for themselves is something that they consider to be a grave insult. Grendels, in contrast, surprisingly love the stuff, and a rampaging Grendel can be pacified with it.
• A few very well-prepared individuals have ventured into the uninhabitable faces of Albia from time to time and came back to tell the tale. The weather patterns closer to the center are said to be quite an astonishing, beautiful sight.
• Since they only have four fingers, Norns count in hexadecimal on their fingertips and joints rather than in base 10 by digits like us, somewhat like this. The difference being that they don't count 0—which works out because thumbs only have three places to count on and not four.

(4 joints? wouldn't that mean they count the joints where their hand meets their wrist or is that typo?)

Possibly more of an observance, but in-verse, Creatures are actually very intelligent by our standards, comparable to human children.

Shee however...see them as very definitely not people, and leave them with potentially dangerous tasks like making hot tea or even working on a building site, despite the creatures being intelligent enough to carry out the task but not fully understand the danger.

Not to mention quite likely running potentially inhumane experiments, even the artificial creation of life is questionable, what about the failures, the creatures that were born ill and in pain?
(Though would some humans do the same if they could? Yes, and that concerns me but it's another kettle of fish.)

That definitely reminds me of a lot of things possible with the engine. And a lot of the issues I have with the Shee as characters.
They created the Splicer, for one thing, and personally drove their creations to near-extinction in one fell swoop twice.
The Shee were probably meant to have Blue and Orange Morality, but definitely come across as more just plain selfish at best and downright evil at worst.

(It wasn't so much a "typo" as a "forgot to mention". The picture I linked to counts fingertips, too. Edited. Whoopsie ^_^" )
