@Zaf

I've thought about it. I'm not sure if I have the voice for it though. It's Wolfling, so it's basically me sitting there, watching them. About 70% of the run is me purposely NOT playing the game so that they can grow up. I'm not sure how entertaining that would be. I literally cannot interact with any of them like in a Feral Run.

I suppose I could record my gameplay and show highlights of the Wolfling, but the nature of the beast is that Wolfling is usually Forum-only for a reason. I'm not sure how I could make streaming fun for the viewers.

Thank you for your input, I really appreciate it. PAGE 3 WOOOT! (Don't ask me why that is so satisfying, I couldn't tell you why. Expansion? Progress?)

You could just play some music and let it run without commentary, then post about events that happen.
It would be kinda like watching a terrarium.

You don't have to say anything, you can talk to people on the chat about the wolfing. Or have them vote on certain events that will take place in the wolfing, like 1 new egg gets hatched or something like that. Or perhaps just have a chat with the people.
Some people might relax watching creatures running around knowing its not their own, so they'll just watch for some relax or fun etc.

I have one question tho, why C2 and not C3? Is c2 your favourite? :)

An idea you could do for c2 or c3 is to have people upload their creatures that you then download to your game and have those wolfing run. People might find it fun seeing if their creature makes it :)

These are not the worst ideas. I'll mull it over definitely. I have streaming software on my computer if it sells as a good idea.

@Zaf

I simply don't own C3. I know, I know, blasphemous, right? I just never got it. C2 is definitely my favorite, but I've just plain never played C3. Closest I've gotten is playing Creatures: Raised in Space, a frankenstein monster of the Creatures series ported to Playstation 1.

I would highly recommend getting GoG's version of Creatures Exodus, fixes some of the big problems it has as well as the price is cheap. More space, and they have a population control where you decide how many norns can be in your world at any given time, depending on your computer, you won't lag. Got over 30+ creatures and no problems :)
Plus some of the c1/c2 breeds has been converted for c3 so your fav norn will be able to live in big rooms with lots of friends :)

Let me know if you decide to set the twitch thing up. I would watch it :)

If you want to know more about c3, you are more than welcome to PM me :)

We're now an hour into the run. Most of the Norns (except the recently hatched one) are now Adolescent stage. The next stage of life is Adolescent and then Adult, meaning they will sprout their tails soon! The anticipation is killing me. Click this.

I tested my streaming software out. It works great. My mic also works, so I can talk to you guys. I can also play music. 10/10, I thought there would be more problems.

This raises the issue... how should this be done? Obviously, I don't want to stream all the time. Should I have it be a scheduled event, or...? I'm new to this, so I'm open to feedback on that end.

...Also, freaking 1000 views?! :D Dang. Consider half of those are me refreshing the page incessantly to see if anyone has left feedback, that's 500 views from Creatures fans. Thank you guys for taking interest in my series. I'll make sure to post very often.

Phantom Brave again this time. This is a peaceful track, but has double meaning for me as the JRPG in question is a world filled entirely with water. Neat, huh? [npirate] Any weebs out there that care about any of this, Phantom Brave is the best JRPG by Nippon Ichi Software, having superior story and combat mechanics to Disgaea, the "popular" game franchise by that company. Suck on that Laharl.

...Disgaea was good too, just not as good.

I would say make a schedule. Then people know when it starts instead of refreshing twitch all the time lol. Just remember to state what timezone its in since PDT and GMT etc are not the same lol.

Also you dont have to talk during the runs since a wolfing doesn't really need it, however if you want to talk go ahead :)

♦ Irrelevant to current run ♦

______________________________________________________________________________________________________
The time has come to discuss the next Wolfling Run after this one, because that run will be very special:

It will be made up by the community! I will be accepting viewer submitted Norns for this run, given by the readers. [ngrin]

There are some stipulations by that end, however:

1. If I am able to successfully get enough submissions, the difficult survival Wolfling Run I mentioned previously will be postponed until after this one.

2. Keep in mind that proper breeding requires that the Norns be of the same or similar genome (For instance, Akamai Canny and Kannova can breed, just as well as Nova Subterra can breed with Kannova, but Nova Subterra cannot breed with Akamai Canny. The standard 256 genome is one of the more prevalent on the site, and they can also only breed with their own kind or similar).

3. The population cap to start with is somewhere between 10 and 16, depending on how many people submit Norns.

With that said, I am NOT restricting the breed that these Norns can be. I only want you to keep in mind that your Norns' babies may be a bit... weird if you do so. With that said, the first users to submit Norns will have a big choice over the type of Norns prevalent in the run.

You may post 1 or 2 Norns, and they can be of any age, level of education, etc. with the only exception that they should not be imported sick or dying. They need not be in perfect health, but please do not send your Norns to me on death's door.

You can post a link to your Norn in this forum post OR you can personal message me a link to download your Norn if you do not want to spoil it for others. Those are the only two places I will be accepting your Norns.

Once you give your Norn to me, they will be in my hands. I will not give any Norn special treatment over another, and I only intervene in bizarre circumstances (Like Norns clipping through the floor and ending up in a space between spaces where they will die of starvation). This run will be enforced more strictly than the others, with no lawbreaking.

Remember to check back here often if you post your Norn, because this run will start AFTER the current one has been concluded, which may take some time.

The first birth of the run! Adolescents and Youths like to boogie, and apparently before any of them became adults. Very cute little baby. I am curious on how being able to swim will change their ability to survive and breed. Only time will tell. Click this.

Update: Before I could even react, a second one was born.

My god, Creatures 1 sprites are hideous. Don't click this.

Hmm. That's a Zander fish causing the error. Looks corrupt. My guess is that a script was in the process of executing on it when it suddenly died/was eaten, and now the script's effectively cut in half. The error looking all gibberish like that means that the code is overflowing past the intended end of the script and into other game code. That's a world corrupter, right there. Bad luck. :(

Do you have any Norns you'd like to see in the User Submitted Wolfling Run? :) That's up next. I'm going to mull over for now and decide if I'm redoing the MerNorn one or just moving on.

I'll give you guys some time to vote and apply your Norns for the "User Submitted Wolfling Run" coming soon! (Read the post a few updates above about the submission information).

This time I'm not going to go incredibly hardcore on the screenshots until after they sprout tails. You've all seen that already. Instead I will watch South Park for awhile. I'm definitely not sitting there watching them like I did last time. Dang, it's like doing an entire level and dying, then having to do the entire level again like those crappy NES games made you do. Don't get me wrong, I love NES. I'm just more of a Contra player and a less of a 'induce thoughts of suicide in myself' player.

Anyway, off-topic discussion aside, I'll be introducing 10 MerNorns just like last time.

I'll hatch these ****s and get this rolling! [ngrin]

The Gen1 Norn born with a Bony Gendel head. Hideous is one thing, this is something else entirely. Literally a new species of disgusting. Why is the MerNorn so wonky...? [nevil]

At least these ones are cuties though. Why was this one sad from birth? Geez.. [ncrying]

Apologies for the picture spam. I'm a bit sad there are no Frog Norn faces this time around. The coloration of this guy makes up for that though [nhearts]

Another game-breaking error message. Fool me once, shame on me...

I'm going to make the assumption that it is not my game that is corrupted but the WORLD that is corrupted. I'm having nothing but trouble with this world, and MerNorns in general.

Mmyep, I'm just going to move on. Similar to the first Wolfling Run in this series, I may eventually do a redo of this one. At this point in time, however, I'm tired of MerNorns (Or lack thereof).

Stick with TheDrunkenNorn's C2 Wolfling Runs next time, when we go...

To the desert! [npirate]

...Mostly because nobody submitted their Norns for the user submitted challenge. [ncrying] I have a feeling I'm making this forum series for my own reading.

Update: I do have the sprites. Imported this guy. They just don't seem to want to TURN INTO MerNorns. Even though they're adults.

Aw no, I've been sneak-reading and massively enjoying you updates, please continue! Perhaps it wasn't clear when or where to submit for your user submitted challenge, or people just missed the message?

Also, I have a suggestion for your MerNorn problem; it seems to me that all the Norns on your screenshots have Frog Norn-patterned legs, and it's the legs that should be the ones evolving into a tail. I don't know whether or not, and if yes how, you gengineered them to be part Frog Norn, but maybe something is off there?

Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.

You should do a wolfling run with the Kai norns. They are really cool....the mothers have to "nurse" the babies for them to survive so they actually have drives that help them be parents.

I haven't engineered them to be anything. I literally just hatched the eggs that came with the pack.

I think probably the main reason you didn't get any submittals before is because you move like a whirling dervish, Drunken. :) I've never seen someone update as often as you do. It's very difficult to keep up with you!

It's not a criticism- I envy the boundless energy- but you have to remember that the rest of us are, merely, human. ;)

I was going to submit a norn, but I'm not sure you'll be able to import him. I generally don't save healthy norns; the only ones I have are exports with weird or amusing genetic defects. I'll send you my favourite, Limpy, but it's no matter if he ends up being unusable. I don't have any others that would be survivable.

EDIT: OH YEAH this is C2. Hmmmm... interesting. I haven't done much C2 work. Give me a little bit to put together an interesting genome and I'll throw something in! I get black screen syndrome when I run C2 so I don't use it much, but I can get rid of the black screen enough to test a wolfling genome (the Hand disappears but that's no biggie if they're wolfing anyway).

Remember, genome matters in breeding. If we get too many varied genomes, we might have a ****ky population. Since you and GimmeCat are the first posters, I'd keep that in mind. With that said, however, I am restricting nothing.

Answered about Limpy's appearance in mail, but genetically, he's all JayD. 19th generation.

Some details:

* Unrecognized words interest and entertain him, but objects coming into view are not stimulating.
* Pain encourages him to breed. Sex drive, not so much.
* Violence from other creatures doesn't scare him- it just makes him bored.
* Drinking water will not cool him down, but will warm him up.
* Adrenaline causes anger instead of sex drive.
* Experiencing anger rewards him. He's probably going to be quite an angry fellow.
* Hearing nouns makes him cold (I think?)

I never solved the mystery of why he was always limping, though.
