After realizing that I had doomed the Valentine Norn run by implementing only 2 males that promptly died, I added a lot more of them. It'll take awhile for them to grow, but hopefully this'll help. They're clones of the Generation Z males, so they have the exact memories and drives and mutations as the ones that died.
Every Male Norn in that pack was in really poor health. This means that there may be no hope for these guys, simply on account of the fact that the Generation Z valentines were already in a decline in terms of male population.
Edit: Man, I released a poor bunch of sods. Next time I'll try to get a better variance between males and females.
We'll take it from the top. New group of Norns, all Valentines.
Here's the breed's readme, by the way!
The Valentine Genome is based on Cyberlife's 256 Genome being modified a little. The Valentine Norns are able to breed earlier than the original Golden Desert Norns because the first life stages were reduced. They enter childhood at the age of 13 minutes and puberty at the age of 40 minutes. Mutation chance of ageing genes is lower. But the most typical feature of this breed is the high fertility of the females. After entering puberty they are nearly always fertile, even after pregnancy they become fertile very soon. Both male and female like to "kiss-pop" because sex drive is usually rather high. So be careful or you will have an abundance of eggs after a short time. The Valentine Norns occupy Geats slot N.
Valentine Norns are MUCH more privy to exploring than Feral2s. Feral2s were so social that they were basically a broken breed. The Valentines are scattered across the entire map. It's almost hard to find them in a group of more than two Norns at a time.
Can you inject this line of CAOS and tell me what the camera focuses on? Or if an error pops up, what does it say?
rtar 2 25 36800 sys: camt
Edit 1: 2 25 X is some kind of fruit, but I haven't been able to find out what. But according to that error, it looks like the script is using an invalid relation condition. They probably wanted to use "ge" but typed "eg" instead.
Edit 2: ...Also, "velo" isn't a valid command, either. Whoever wrote that cob either didn't write it for C2's version of CAOS, or just doesn't know what they're doing.
Edit 3: IN FACT, the more I look at it, the less it makes sense. DOIF velocity is ge 100, play a sound - otherwise, play the same sound? Then why the DOIF?! This is making me irrationally angry, lol. I really want to find out what that cob is now.
Edit 4: I found it. It's the Thir Bush. I recommend uninstalling it. Or if you want to keep it (bearing in mind, there may be more errors in other scripts) you could open it up in BobCob and modify script 2 25 36800 5 from this:
scrp 2 25 36800 5
doif velo eg 100
scrp 2 25 36800 5
doif vely ge 100
Then save the cob, use the Object Injector to remove all existing plants, and re-inject it.
Edit Infinity: But if you want to replace it with a different plant, I think my strawberries might survive. They're hardy little things.
Food is everywhere, yet these Valentine Norns refuse to eat. Lots of them are starving because of it. Tis' the nature of Wolfling Runs, I suppose. Next run I'm doing some Akamai Canny breed. Watching a Norn community suffer because they're too stupid to eat the mountains of food laid everywhere around them aches my heart.
I'm ready for the jungle now baby. Alright, I've had this breed up my sleeve in case of normal Norn weariness: the Kimahri Norns. They're Tiger Norns who also coincidentally happen to be Akamai Canny Norns. Maybe these guys will be able to eat when they're hungry!
One thing to keep in mind is that these Norns are, by the readme, really cool. This is why I kinda kept them in my back pocket until now; they really are an emergency "AWESOME" breed.
The Kimahri genome is based upon the Akamai Canny genome, created by Lis Morris, and was modified by Kathira with the
- Kimahri Norns are amphibious, so they cannot drown.
- Their fur protects them from the cold, so they don't freeze so easily. (This is incredibly useful in Nerinath!!!)
- Baby and child stage are shortened and they stay adults longer as normal norns.
- They are more resistant against most toxins.
- They nibble on toxic plants from time to time.
- Kimahris are hoggish, they can eat a lot before they had enough.
- They are bored very quickly, so they need a diversified environment. They like little critters a lot.
- To pet them makes them feel comfortable and is no direct reward
- They are not that much focused on the hand and don't complain about everything
We'll see how they do! I have a feeling that we're going to be in for a good time, though.
Disclaimer: That song doesn't really have anything to do with the actual jungle...
"Good bit o' nosh", "Mmm good" and "Yummy" seem to have inexplicably appeared in the Creatures' vocabulary. Huh.
They're also cannibals in training, saying "Eat Norn" as often as possible.
Edit: I was wrong! Soon after injecting Albian Updates, the Norns took care of business and fixed up their needs so that about 80% of them are in a really good mood again. I don't know if the Kimahri Norns just need time, or if it's the Albian Updates.
This is a rare sight; the elusive Norn, a type of Creature that stays up 23 of the 24 hours of the day without sleeping is actually asleep; this is quite the sight to see!
Norn Dundee needs to be a thing.
It may be a coincidence, or it may be Albian Updates, but every Norn in this world is happy right now. All six of them have their needs satisfied for the most part. I don't think that I've actually never seen a world that has had all happy Norns (Correct me if I'm wrong). Usually about 5 minutes in the babies start getting grumpy that they can't "Eat Toy", or just generally starve themselves.
I put 6 new babies into a new world, this time with the Albian Updates injected at the very start. After about 5-10 minutes or so, they still seem very content. However, this does raise the question: If the breed creator was so wonderfully inept (Like me with the Ivrogne Norns), what other ways could these Norns be different/bad? If they can't even get water breathing to work, who knows what other terrors lurk around the corner!
According to a member of the CreaturesCaves Discord, these aren't really Akamai Canny Norns; they're only Canny. That's... depressing, considering they're advertised as such.
False advertising and non-working water-breathing? Well butter my biscuit, this is only the thing that bothers me the most about Creatures 2 modding! Who in their right mind spreads misinformation like this? It's a wonder how false advertising can make your breed seem like one of the best around when really... well...
Still, if I were making an amphibious breed, I would first study what previous working amphibious breeds did. It seems kinda odd that this was flubbed, considering the fact that there are so many amphibious Norns around.
Edit: They are Akamai Canny Norns, apparently.
Thanks for letting me use your gathered data, Verm! I don't have a head for the interior components for the game; I've only recently gotten the hang of finding out of a Norn has Canny lobes or not.
Users don't need the Albian Updates; huh? I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean.
I'm personally using them for my own worlds and Wolfling Runs. I'm not going to force every user to use the Albian Updates. What if there was a serious bug or flaw in them? I would be forcing anyone who used Nerinath to endure that bug. Just seems like a bad business practice in modding.
It seems like the classification of Akamai Canny is in doubt lately.
Personally I only consider the 'brain upgrade' to be a transition period from Canny to Akamai, since part of Akamai's improved intelligence comes from reworked instincts and further improved chemical-to-reward balance. Which is why I wasn't even aware that Iscah were technically based on *Akamai* canny ettins, not just improved canny ettins.
But if you consider only the brainlobes, or brainlobes and instincts, to be a marking I'm fairly certain Kimahri-s are Akamai.
Firstly, I'm going to be putting a halt to the Kimahri Norns run for now. Nerinath has been updated by Verm, and he has allowed me to post his update. Less crashing, less bugs. So the best free Creatures 2 world just got updated! (Being the best Creatures 2 world isn't very difficult at this point in time. There doesn't seem to be many out there...)
I'll be starting the Kimahri Norns run over in the new Nerinath world.
