Interesting thing about Grendels

Anybody notice that with Grendels that when you're trying to create an active breeding population 3/4 times the egg is laid it hatches to be a male grendel? And that the period of time it takes for an egg to be laid is significantly longer than any other creature?

Makes me wonder if they're supposed to be a genuine challenge to breed.

That has not been my experience, but then again I haven't done much breeding of basic Jungle Grendels. Banshees breed like crazy, and the Grendel breeds i've downloaded have not exhibited those traits. It's possible the Jungle Grendels do because they didn't want them to overrun the game and you weren't REALLY meant to be messing with them at all, they just gave the option in case people wanted to.

Conclude with killer catchphrase.

There are seasonal gender biases in hatching. That may be what you are experiencing. There should be an agent somewhere that removes the bias.

It's possible that you may be experiencing seasonal bias. As for pregnancies taking longer I haven't noticed it, but Jungle Grendels were designed to be a challenge to breed as the females of the vanilla genome will age rapidly and die before they can lay a second egg.

That's what Norn genetics and the splicer are for ;)

I had no idea there even was a season bias in all honesty! That's put an interesting spin on things and thanks for the link!
