I am curious what people think about the C3 lifespans, and whether they think they are the right length... I'd like to get a read on if I should add changes to lifespan into CFF too now that I've altered their breeding... Personally I like longer lifespans as I think it helps them easier to get attached to, and it also gives these CFE-types a longer time to develop their own personality, but I could also see it being a detriment to someone who likes wolfling runs.
How do you feel? do you prefer the C3 4-5 hour lifespans? The longer average lifespans from previous games of 8-10 hours? Or somewhere in between?

I think if Norns are given longer lifespans, their rates of reproduction should be reduced; Norns in C1/C2 were quite a challenge to breed, whereas those in C3/DS often pop out eggs left, right and centre! |

To be honest, I generally don't focus on individual creatures, not even in non-wolf-mode. I usually don't get too attached to single creatures and prefer seeing the population as whole grow and evolve.
That also leads me to liking those fast-aging superbreeders. As long as they are not immortal, I don't mind having those. Actually it is pretty nice to have some IMO, because they make the population as whole progress faster, which is just what I want.
To come back to your question: due to this whole fast population vibe I have going on in my worlds, I also prefer slightly lower life spans.

Yeah CFFs don't breed that fast, slower than normal at least, but they are still quite capable of keeping up a population on their own... They could probably do okay with an increase, but it seems probably best to just leave it at the default for the breeds and let people mess with the lifespan if they like, it's easy enough to change that half-life.
I didn't include the lifespan increases I talked about in the thread in the final CFFs, (I actually forgot to save them into the genome); but from feedback and testing, these still breed well, if a good bit more reasonably, so I think that's okay.

A major thing I noticed when trying to actively raise C3/DS norns is that they breed faster than I can teach them.
One thing I did do to counter this was give them a bondi-norn length lifespan then make it so that they reached fertility at adulthood instead of youth. (I can't remember exactly how long it took for them to reach adulthood at this rate, I think about 50 mins?)
I was pretty much satisfied with this, but I kind of did it this way as a workaround for not really knowing how to slow down their breeding or slow down the rate their organs age. |

The amount of time spent in the fertile period always seems unreasonably long relative to the overall lifespan. It would be nice if they took a little longer to reach puberty, and had a more pronounced decline in fertility due to old age. |

I never had a problem getting natural eggs back in 1998. Back then we didn't have the community we do now. I think it is much easier now. If you use cobs like the breeder cobs, it removes the difficulty. Just my opinion.
All I needed was two males, and new females. Plus I had the launch version. 1.0 or 1.1. Defiantly not 1.4 like we have now.

Becoming fertile at about 50 minutes - 1hr 20 suits me. Any faster and they get out of control - any slower and it feels like things are starting to drag a bit, for me anyway. A shorter adulthood period would be nice, as I've had some norns in C1 remaining adult (not elderly) for 12 hours + ...and I end up with tons and tons of natural eggs lying around. |

I also feel like the fertility period is pretty long. If there was a way to rapidly decrease the fertility of old norns that might help. Heck, it might be interesting to have females become infertile at old and have males sharply decrease but not eliminate fertility as a nod to the human equivalent. |
