Questions cross-posted from Creaturetopia (I hope you don't mind, 3kul)!

As you think about the CCSF 2011, consider these questions:

? When do we want to hold it?
? How long should it run for?
? What kind of theme do we want to go for?
? Who will be organizing it?
? What kind of site should we have for it?
? How can we make it better than the last CCSF?

I just thought that now the first CCSF 2011 survey has been posted, this topic would be a good place to discuss everyone ideas for the upcoming festival. The planning has kicked off earlier this year, so we have plenty of time to think about it. :)

How can we make it better than the last CCSF?

"More how to articals, And also a Art contest! People send in Pictures they either: 1-Drew 2-made on a computer program 3- A nicely set up screenshot! Then the juges ( Selected Comunity Members) will look at the picture and choose the top 5 or 10 then it will be up to the whole comunity to chose the top 3! They will get site trophies and the rest who were chosen by the juges will get a site trophie for being at the top and the others will get a Participant image for posting a picture. That would get it more interesting."

Oh, tutorials are a good idea. There are some good ones out there already, though--I'd be interested to see what people think still needs to be covered.

I'd like to see an interview or two. That was one of my favorite parts of the past festivals. It's still neat to see the old interviews and what was going on back then. Who wouldn't want to look back a few years from now and see what was going on in '11?

Ooo, interviews would be cool! Some writing would be cool too :)
I'd also like to see some new agents to add to ecosystems. I have so many extra toys and food sources, but it would be nice to have little ladybugs or other critters to add to otherwise empty rooms!

Tutorials and interviews would be cool.... I would really like to know what some intensly important or active comunity members are up too!

Woah. It's that time of year already, I should get to work on my Frost Ettins.

I think we should pick a theme that hasn't been done before (Obviously), that is focused, but not too much, so that we can have a large variety.

Over at Creaturetopia, we've been discussing the idea of the CCSF 2011 being held in October. It looks like I'm probably going to end up co-ordinating the festival this year so, the way I'm thinking now, I think we should go with October. That gives us three clear months to plan and prepare everything. Thoughts?

The sooner we start voting on our theme the better too. :) When a poll is created, I'll link to it here.

It's not too early for me to start prodding people about submissions though; don't worry, I'll be gentle! ;)

This is going to sound completely selfish but I'd love to use CCSF to drum up some attention for Ainarda and hopefully find a coder for the world at long last. Maybe a theme for this year could be "What's New" or "The Future" with new worlds, Creatures 4 (particularly if the CCSF is held in mid august when more info will be released), new norns, add-on's, and whatnot.

I'm not even sure how to further "market" Ainarda to C2 developers or DS developers. Originally I was going to release the world for the festival but then I had problems with the coding of it. As it is, I think Ghosthande mentioned possibly being able to help if the world were for DS but she doesn't know how to do a world-wrap for it. Not sure if anyone else has figured that out yet.

In any event, I'm sure this year will be an exciting one!

Personally, I'm not sure having the festival in August will give us/me enough time to organise it and gather the submissions. If I'm co-ordinating it, I'd want to make sure I do the CCSF 2011 justice. I can't speak for other people wanting to submit something, but I think I'd feel a bit rushed only having just over a month to prepare everything. :P

'The Future' doesn't come up as something people voted for the first survey, but Ghosthande made a really good suggestion about consolidating themes:

Ghosthande wrote:
Time Capsule overlaps well with Legacy; while the latter generally refers to the past, a time capsule is essentially the legacy of the present being preserved for the future. Old Charm seems like it could fit in here too.

So the 'What's new' idea could fit in nicely there. :)

I thought a theme of "Leaving the Nest" was specific, yet not at the same time. It kind of fits the current situation without being too literal. The CCs "Dad", Steve Grand, has left and is starting a new game, although similar. Our kind "Step-Mother" Gameware has given her blessing to a suitor of sort. It's like we are leaving our childhood and our safe place. What happens by the end of winter will define us as a community.

And then as a way to base off add-ons, you could think of it more literally like plants or vendors that one might use outside the nest in the big, wide, world. Discovering a new breed of creature. Or that there is a new world/metaroom to explore. Or you can think of it more symbolicly, by finishing old projects, or doing something you've never done before. Write a story, or a poem. Or you could host a contest or wolfing run.

Merboy, have you considered that it might be too big? From what I've seen it looks amazing, but it's HUGE! Maybe consider making a smaller version of it OR offering to make a smaller version if someone would be willing to help? At the very least find a way to make it not need to be wrapped? That, I think, is the hardest part, and far more complicated than anything normally done. Give people some options and you might find a taker. Just my 2 cents.

I am most definitely participating in the CCSF 2011 this year! I hate how I missed it last year, but now that I have technology on my side, I should be able to avoid random absences. Definitely sad I missed the first poll, but the results seem to point in a general direction for everyone.

Good luck coordinating the event, Laura! I'll be keeping up with the discussion from now on, and hopefully I can pitch in at some point.

So good to see the CCSF continuing on: We may be a small community, but I think this is one of the best ones out there... And one of the few that continues to grow over time!

Good to see you back, Jessica. :D Thanks for the words of support; I really hope I can do the CCSF justice this year!

Hopefully we can all decide on its theme soon; I've PMed 3kul about a poll. :) 'The Future'/'What's New', and everything which falls under that umbrella seems to be a favourite choice at the moment.
