... Somehow turned your creatures into zombies, by any chance? How did this happen? |

Also, which game are we talking about? C1? C2? C3/DS?
EDIT: whoops, sorry, didn't quite see the topic's title!

Something similar happened to me once. Turned out I still had Amai's Shortcuts installed and accidently activated the shortcut that made all the creatures look at you. Maybe the same thing happened to you? |

Nope, I don't have anything that makes your norns look at you... |

Have you tried using the X-Ray agent to check their organs and chemical levels? That'll help give you some insight into whether they're zombies or just a little odd.
The gene kit can also help you see if there are any wonky genes that are causing them to act strangely. You're more than welcome to share any creatures you find interesting in the adoptions section of the downloads if you need someone to take a look at them for you. :3

I can't get the x-ray agent to work. But, like you said, posting one of the might be a good idea...
Edit: I posted one of the norns, could you try to see what's wrong with him?

I took a look at him. He isn't a true zombie because all of his organs are still alive, and his drives seem to go up as well. He is also a first gen ,so that rules out being a slider/right-walker. I really don't know what's wrong with him, but I highly doubt its genetic? O.o
Do you have any strange agents installed in your world, like Mind Arrows or that Creature remote control thing?

Hey, the CRC is clean! It only messes around with the mind. It does not change the biochemistry or use the "SOUL" command, which could trigger that kinda stuff.
I am not sure about the mind arrows, but I think the same applies for those. It has to be something else. Ghosthande's Halo might be a possible cause, although she is probably capable enough to prevent such horrific bugs...

When I say "zombie" I didn't mean dead but walking, I mean all my norns/ettins (I'm guessing around 20. (all first gen by the way.)) won't do anything other than walk into the wall, and I don't have any of the agents injected that anyone has said so far... |

Are they paying attention to anything in particular while they walk?

Nope, not from what I can tell... Once in a while when walking by something an ettin will glance at it... But, that's about it... |

In case it really is something with the brain, we could try this line of code. It will erase any kind of forced action from the mind and let the norns do their own stuff again. When that does not work, it either is a more severe brain damage or something completely different.

This may seem rather simplistic, but have you tried exporting one and importing it into another world to see if it acts the same?

"didn't work" like "didn't keep behaving like that" or "didn't work" like "didn't fix the poor guy"?
Another thing: which generation are they? Did you mix in any foreign creatures or exotic breeds?

Still acting the same, not doing anything other than walking against the wall, not sleeping or eating. also... "all first gen by the way" I already said. |

Again something I missed, darn >.<
Okay, let's list up what we've got so far: 1st gen default breed wallbonkers (hence genetic faults excluded). Apparently no mind-messing things. Faulty behavior carried over to new worlds, but creatures native to other worlds are fine.
New idea: when you hatch creatures in a DIFFERENT world, they are still fine, right? What happens when you import a normally behaving norn into the glitchy world? Does it stay fine or does it become dumb over time as well?
Also, can you give us a list of literally everything you have installed in the buggy world? (even the smallest and maybe unimportant things like an autonamer)

I just downloaded Astro and had a look. Poor little sausage, he's not happy, is he? But he looks healthy, which is weird - all organs and other life signs are fine, no sign of disease or infection. I did get him to stop walking, but then he'd just sit there. Interestingly, although he'd maxed out tiredness and boredom while walking, once he stopped, his sleepiness increased but he wouldn't sleep. He also doesn't respond to the hand's verbal commands, not even to "what" or "express" (taught him using the vocb command). He responds positively to tickles but ignores slaps.
If all the norns and ettins were fine to start with, and newly hatched ones are also fine, I can only think this is the result of some weird in-game corruption that's damaged the creature files. You could try using a tool to re-inject new eggs based on the original genome if you really want these norns, but if they're all 1st gen it might be easier to start afresh with new eggs. I can't see it being a genetic fault if it's affecting both ettins and norns, and they were all fine until they all zombified at once. |

When I hatch new norns, new world or not, they are fine. When I import norns, they don't become dumb... Do you really want me to list all the agents..? That'd be a lot, but I've never had anything unexpected like this happen because of them.
So you are saying I should just delete those norns/ettins then..? Well, I guess it's better than letting them starve... ![[nsad] [nsad]](/images/smilies/emot_sad.gif) |

Did anything unusual happen right before they zombified? Did it happen between sessions of running the game? Had you just installed any new agents? Or any other software on your computer? |

Yeah... They all just laid down, none of them would get up, so I tried moving them and so... yeah. New agents..? Ummm... Americana pack, Valentines day pack, yule pack from here and also the Dustdevil Grendels from here. Didn't install anything else new. |

Nothing of which seems really suspicious to me...
Maybe we really should get to a full list. By "all agents you have installed" I mean only those you actually injected into the broken world, not every agent that you ever downloaded in history.
Cosfile "fixes" may be interesting too.

But for the creatures to be affected across machines, there must be actual changes made to the creature file... almost like a chunk of the code has been overwritten? Could that be done by game upgrade? |

I guess we could analyze that with a full list of modifications. If none turn out to be harmful nor any of them seem to converge, then the client is just being glitchy.
