As the title says; I was watching the various mutations in the CreaturesWiki, and I noticed that on the Slider mutation, it said that the correct genes of a clone of a creature with the slider mutation could be healthy. My question is how to clone them? Is it with some agent in the game, or exporting them and duplicating the creature file? If it is the first one, how, because I saw somewhere that clones could crash your world because you cannot have two creatures with the same moniker in the same world.
Edit: I don't know why, but this post seems a little strange on the writing...

Typically what you'll need to do to fix Slider Syndrome is to edit the genome of the affected Creature, and hatch a new one with corrected genes. I've never actually tried this out myself, though, so I couldn't offer too many pointers. I'm sure others would have some ideas, though!

DevThing has the ability to clone the current creature, if that is what you were trying to do.

To fix its genome, you'll need to open it in an external editor. Look at the creature's info box- its moniker is in the last tab. Look for a file that matches that name under My Worlds/(world name)/Genetics.
I'd probably make a copy of that file before editing, I've never tried editing a creature's genetics while it exists in game and I suspect that wouldn't go well. Anyway, once you've edited it you can use something such as the Genetics Kit or EggMaker to hatch a creature with the fixed genome in game (and this gets around the "same moniker" issue too.)
I should mention I have had trouble opening some genetics files obtained this way in the official Genetics Kit- occasionally I'll get one that won't open because it's "too big". |
